Tenure Track Position in Mechatronics Engineering (Automotive Mechatronics)

The successful candidate will engage in a combination of teaching, scholarly research or creative activity, and service duties while maintaining an inclusive, equitable, and collegial work environment across all activities. Teaching duties will entail teaching and curriculum development at undergraduate and graduate levels and supervision of students. The successful candidate will further pursue a strong, innovative research program or creative activity that is externally funded and that produces cutting-edge, high-quality results.

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical-Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field by the appointment date.

In addition, the successful candidate must present evidence of :

  • a strong background in theoretical / experimental mechatronics / robotics related to the search areas;
  • a strong emerging scholarly research and / or creative activity that is current, innovative, and impactful as evidenced by, but not limited to, peer-reviewed publications, working papers, public policy contributions, presentations at academic conferences, community and professional work, grants, research-related awards, and other writing or creative production that contributes to the visibility and prominence of the discipline;
  • a relevant research area of interest that complements the research of existing Mechatronics Engineering group, including, but not limited to autonomous vehicles, electric vehicles, hardware-software co-design, and advanced control systems design;
  • potential for teaching excellence in Mechatronics Engineering courses at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum and suitability for teaching in the graduate program;
  • eligibility to register as a professional engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of Ontario;
  • a commitment to our values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) as it pertains to service, teaching, and scholarly research or creative activities, including a demonstrated ability to make learning accessible and inclusive for a diverse student population;
  • service and volunteerism related to research, teaching, and / or EDI, and an ability and willingness to contribute to the life of the Department, Faculty, and the University through collegial service.

Postdoctoral and / or industrial experience is considered an asset.

Department of Mechanical, Industrial, and Mechatronics Engineering

The Department has 40 faculty members and offers four-year accredited programs leading to Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and (from 2027) in Mechatronics Engineering. The Department also offers graduate programs leading to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree, Master of Applied Science (MASc) degree, and Master of Engineering (MEng) degree and is home to about 1300 undergraduate and 100 graduate students.
