About the role
Join the Infrastructure and Operations Team, in the Senior Mainframe DB2 Support Specialist (z/OS) position. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring database availability, performance, security, and recoverability for enterprise mainframe applications. This is a hands on role requiring deep technical expertise, strong problem solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with infrastructure, application, and operations teams.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide Level 3 support for IBM DB2 on z/OS, including incident management, root‑cause analysis, and production issue resolution.
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain DB2 subsystems and support z/OS components.
  • Monitor and tune DB2 performance, including SQL, buffer pools, storage, and system parameters.
  • Manage and optimize DB2 objects (tablespaces, indexes, plans, packages).
  • Design, implement, and test backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high‑availability solutions, including data sharing environments.
  • Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory requirements, managing access controls and privileges.
  • Analyze complex performance problems and partner with application teams on SQL optimization and schema changes.
  • Act as a DB2 subject‑matter expert, mentoring staff and collaborating across development, systems, and operations teams.


What you should have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of hands on experience supporting IBM DB2 on z/OS (Mainframe).
  • .Strong knowledge of:
    • DB2 subsystem architecture and internals.
    • z/OS operating system concepts.
    • SQL performance tuning and access path analysis.
  • Proven experience with:
    • Backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
    • DB2 utilities and common third party tools (e.g., BMC, Broadcom, IBM tools).
  • The ability to troubleshoot complex, high impact production issues.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.


It would be great if you also had:

  • Experience with DB2 Data Sharing Environments.
  • Exposure to CICS, IMS, or batch processing workloads.
  • Familiarity with automation, scripting, or DevOps practices on the mainframe.
  • Knowledge of capacity planning and performance engineering.
  • IBM DB2 or z/OS certifications.
