Job description
We are seeking a versatile Middleware Administrator for a 12-month contract in Toronto. This is a "hands-on" technical role focused on the installation, configuration, and proactive management of enterprise middleware technologies. As a middleware generalist, you will support both critical project work and ongoing business operations, ensuring that the integration layer remains secure, high-performing, and compliant with architectural standards.

Duration: 12-month contract

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Start Date: ASAP

Rate: $57.09-$63.81/hr

Advantages
Technology Breadth: Work across a wide array of industry-leading middleware platforms, from IBM and Oracle to open-source web technologies.

Hybrid Flexibility: Enjoy a balanced work model with a mix of onsite collaboration in Toronto and remote work.

Immediate Impact: Start ASAP on a long-term engagement that combines high-visibility project work with stable operational support.

Professional Growth: Opportunity to champion new ideas and evaluate emerging middleware approaches in a complex, enterprise environment.

Responsibilities
Systems Administration: Lead the installation, configuration, and tuning of middleware technologies. Deploy and configure complex interfaces to ensure seamless data flow across systems.

Operational Support: Diagnose and resolve production issues through expert-level troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.

Asset Refresh & Upgrades: Manage small-to-medium middleware upgrade projects, ensuring smooth transitions during asset refresh initiatives.

Security & Compliance: Routinely apply the latest security patches, perform comprehensive health checks, and manage SSL certificates to maintain a hardened environment.

Performance Tuning: Proactively monitor system performance and implement tuning measures to optimize throughput and reliability.

Documentation: Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including operational support guides and "Buildbooks."

Qualifications
Technical Requirements (Mandatory)
IBM Integration Suite: Minimum 5 years of experience administering IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) and IBM MQ.

Application Servers: Proficiency in WebLogic 12c (and above).

Web Technologies: Hands-on experience with Apache, Tomcat, and Reverse Proxy configurations.

Certificate Management: Working knowledge of SSL/TLS certificate management and security protocols.

Highly Desirable Skills:
Oracle Utilities: Experience with Oracle Utilities Applications (CCB, NMS, OUA, and OMA).

WebSphere: Administration of WebSphere Application Server.

Job Scheduling: Experience with enterprise job schedulers such as Appworx.

ETL & Reporting: Familiarity with SAP BO reporting, Data Services, or other ETL technologies.

Professional Skills
Analytical Thinking: Ability to systematically gather information and grasp complexities within integrated environments.

Collaborative Mindset: Willingness to share information, gain consensus, and work toward the best solution for the team rather than individual goals.

Project Management: Experience managing client expectations, performing impact analysis, and adjusting plans based on changing business priorities.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or an applicable professional designation.

Summary
If you are a Middleware Generalist who thrives on solving complex technical puzzles and maintaining the backbone of enterprise IT communications, we encourage you to apply today!
