You will work closely with other leaders in Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada to deliver professional services to clients, while championing safety, quality, innovation, and risk management processes.

The role will be hybrid, but primarily work will be from any Stantec office in Ontario. Travel, on occasion, will be required to other Stantec office locations, the field and/or meetings with clients.

  • Develop business plans and work with the leadership team to achieve key performance indicators

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the national business strategy for Geotechnical Services, with accountability for Ontario region-specific strategies and priorities with respect to the mining sector

  • Lead growth in revenue generation and monitor progress using Stantec’s business tools to monitor KPIs

  • Engage in technical project work, including preparing, reviewing, and supervising technical documents such as reports, drawings, specifications, material takeoffs, cost estimates, and construction documentation

  • Participate in dam safety reviews, dam inspections, and other projects related to tailings risks and management

  • Manage and collaborate with multidisciplinary experts across civil, geotechnical, hydrotechnical, environmental, hydrogeology, and geochemistry disciplines

  • Hiring and mentoring new team members

  • Assist leadership with the training and mentorship of junior and intermediate staff to respond to proposal requests, liaising with clients, project scoping, and other business development initiatives

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Profound knowledge of Ontario’s mining sector

  • Experience in engineering design studies from conceptual to detailed levels for tailings, waste rock, and water management systems, including dams, dikes, and earthworks

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to clearly convey and distill complex technical information to a variety of audiences

  • PEO member

  • Ability to balance project execution and business development

  • Entrepreneurial minded with a core understanding of business and the challenges of an engineering and geotechnical consulting services provider

  • Team player with experience in sourcing clients, building, leading, and managing a team

  • Awareness of professional standards of practice (Professional Engineers, Professional Geologists, PMP), ethics, and their applicability to Stantec’s business, risk management, and quality frameworks
