Job description

Req ID:525569

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Bid Manager in Toronto, ON, we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your project management and commercial expertise in a transformative field. You’ll work alongside collaborative, dynamic, and innovative teammates.

You'll play a pivotal role in shaping the success of our bids, ensuring alignment with client needs and driving the On-Corridor Works project forward. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Legal, Finance, Tax, Insurance), lead bid preparation in line with our signalling and solutions strategy, and oversee the tender process from start to finish.

You’ll specifically take care of defining bid operational strategies and coordinating cross-functional efforts, but also contribute to customer negotiations and ensure compliance with Alstom’s bid governance processes.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Managing bid preparation in alignment with the signalling and solutions strategy

  • Analyzing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and defining bid operational strategies

  • Proposing project contractual organizations, partnership strategies, and external system purchases

  • Committing to quality, cost, delivery, and performance (QCDP) targets

  • Coordinating with Legal, Finance, Tax, and Insurance to deliver optimized pricing and cash flow

  • Identifying and analyzing risks and savings opportunities

  • Ensuring adherence to Alstom’s bid processes and obtaining leadership validation

  • Evaluating and controlling tender budgets

  • Following customer negotiations and adapting offers based on evolving requirements

  • Issuing Tender Transfer Meetings (TTM) and contributing to continuous improvement through feedback

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Degree in Engineering or a business-related field

  • 5+ years of experience in Bid or Tender management, finance, or projects

  • Proven experience with multi-million-dollar consolidations

  • Proficiency in cost consolidation and scheduling tools

  • Strong project management and project controlling knowledge

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel

  • Fluency in English

  • Peference for candidates with experience in Open Book and Stage Gate tender environments
  • Key competencies: teamwork, autonomy, proactivity, strong communication skills, resilience, and a sense of urgency

Things you’ll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from monotonous daily routines

  • Work with new security standards for rail signalling

  • Collaborate with transverse teams and supportive colleagues

  • Contribute to innovative projects that shape the future of mobility

  • Utilise our flexible and inclusive working environment

  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries

  • Benefit from our investment in your development through award-winning learning opportunities

  • Progress towards roles such as Senior Bid Manager or other leadership positions

  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognizes your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)

Compensation

The expected compensation for this role is$110,000 – $145,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.

Use of Artificial Intelligence in Hiring

We do not use artificial intelligence in the recruiting process for this role.

Interview Process & Candidate Communication

Candidates who participate in an interview for this role will be informed of the hiring decision within 45 days of their final interview date.

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
