Job Summary The Department of Medicine at Peace Arch Hospital (PAH )is looking for three General Internal Medicine (GIM) specialists. PAH is a community hospital in White Rock. We have a rapidly growing community, which supports the hospital. We have an excellent Hospitalist group covering all medical inpatients excluding ICU and telemetry patients. We are going to a series of remodeling and expansion, including the recent completion of a brand new ER and OR, and now undergoing construction with a new, state of the art, ICU and telemetry unit. The successful candidate will be part of the GIM group practice. IM call covers consultations as General IM, including most of the specialties, ICU, and telemetry; we have seven ICU beds with a maximum capacity of two vents at a time. Our doctors currently rotate once every 6 weeks to cover ICU/telemetry/consult service during the day from -H Monday-Sunday. On call is MOCAP level I from -H next day. Your call day will be approximately once per week (4-5 calls per month) as well as every 7th weekend depending on staffing level and locum availability. These requirements will also decrease as we recruit more staff. There will be an opportunity to do additional call days. The successful candidate is expected to establish clinic in the community for consults and follow-ups. Once we complete recruitment, we anticipate building a separate Internal Medicine Inpatient Unit (IMU) line (includes telemetry) to be renumerated by APP. Full time staff also have access to hospital based outpatient services, including our Infectious Disease Clinic (OPAT), ETT/MIBI clinic, Chest Pain Clinic, Cardiac Rehab Clinic, and Graduated Care Clinic (Rapid Internal Medicine Access Clinic). Applicants must be eligible for FRCPC certification (Internal Medicine) and must demonstrate evidence of sufficient clinical experience in all areas of General Medicine and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C (CPSBC). All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. The candidate must be able to manage a community ICU with ability to perform intubation, central line insertion, femoral arterial line insertion, chest tube insertion, paracentesis, and lumbar puncture (transvenous pacemakers is a bonus). Experience and demonstrated skills in point-of-care ultrasound, pacemaker interrogation, leadership, medical administration, and teaching will be considered an asset.
