Who we are
BC Egg is the regulatory body that oversees and manages the province’s egg farming industry. We work with over 150 family-owned and operated egg farms, grading stations, processors, and other industry partners to bring quality BC fresh eggs to consumers.
Our Mandate
BC Egg is the first-instance regulator of egg production in BC under the Natural Products Marketing (BC) Act and the BC Egg Marketing Scheme. BC Egg is responsible for the orderly production of eggs by regulating the production volume, transportation, packaging, storage, and marketing of ungraded eggs. It sets the price producers receive for eggs within the province. These duties are overseen by the BC Farm Industry Review Board, an independent tribunal established to supervise all marketing boards and commissions in BC.
At a national level, Egg Farmers of Canada is responsible for the orderly production of eggs and is supervised by the Farm Products Council of Canada. BC Egg must work closely with Egg Farmers of Canada and the provincial / territorial eggs boards within Canada to ensure the orderly production of eggs throughout the country. This working relationship is outlined in a Federal Provincial Territorial Agreement .
Proper governance requires that BC Egg understand the authority vested in it through Federal and Provincial legislation, as well as the political landscapes within BC and across Canada.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The Events Coordinator plays a key role in advancing BC Egg’s communications and marketing objectives by planning and executing impactful events and outreach activities. Working closely with the Manager of Marketing & Communication, this role supports efforts to enhance BC Egg’s public image as a credible and trusted source of information about egg farming in British Columbia.
As the primary coordinator of public-facing initiatives, you will be responsible for ensuring that all events reflect the values and goals of BC Egg. This includes fostering positive, collaborative relationships with stakeholders, partners, and the public to strengthen awareness and build trust in BC’s egg farming industry.
Event Management
- Develop and maintain comprehensive event timelines to ensure clear planning, coordination, and successful execution.
- Oversee all logistical elements of BC Egg events, including venue selection and bookings, contract review, insurance and licensing requirements, equipment rentals, event setup and teardown, and scheduling of staff, volunteers, and service providers.
- Act as the on-site liaison and primary BC Egg representative during single-day events, and when assigned to multi-day events, manage day-to-day logistics, event schedules, and communication with venue staff and vendors to ensure seamless operations.
- Assess event outcomes in collaboration with staff and BC Egg Farmer Ambassadors to support continuous improvement and future planning.
