Job Description

Reporting directly to the Manager of Project Management, the Installation Manager will help build a team of 25 installers across the GTA and identify potential partnerships to assist in installation. This position is an integral part of the project management team, ensuring appropriate staffing and management of all on-site installation crews in Canada ensuring enforcement of all required safety and work-related policies.

  • Support HR in building relationships with local colleges, trades and government programs to maximize the number of available candidates.
  • Participate in the development and execution of an onboarding program for new installers.
  • Assist in developing workflow processes and work instructions within the installation process
  • Ensuring staffing levels at all sites.
  • Ensure that workers are performing productive work and the non-productive hours are kept to a minimum
  • Have expert knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS), provincial and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Lead site opening training, regular site toolbox talks, job hazard analysis (JHA) and audit functions. Support Safety Specialist with frequent site audits.
  • Participate in project launch meetings to understand the scope and to become familiar with each project.
  • Establish direct relationships with clients for project scheduling, coordination, and all necessary communications.
  • Understand and monitor project schedules to ensure the appropriate level of staffing.
  • Report on installation efficiencies, installation progress, workmanship/quality. Report weekly on the status of all projects and key metrics. Initiate progress billing. Verify linear feet of installation and coordinate information with the accounting department. Ensure that all building/site safety documentation is up to date on the project files.
  • Complete punch list and final inspection to close out the job.
  • Provide Field Technical Support and training as necessary. Engage in a process of continuous improvement by engaging in ongoing company training.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the assigned Project Managers keeping them aware of all project activities so they can assist, as necessary, if and when issues arise.

Qualifications

  • 5 years experience working in construction and 3 years experience as a construction supervisor.
  • Solid understanding of project management, and installation processes.
  • Strong people management, delegation, planning, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of provincial workplace safety compliance regulations, ordinances, and legislation.
  • Strong, effective verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Possess a valid drivers’ license.
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise necessary cost control measures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure.
