Our client, a portfolio company in the staffing industry, is seeking a hands-on finance professional to support the business. This is a full-time opportunity for someone who can step in quickly, manage day-to-day finance operations, and help keep the function stable and organized within a small team environment. There is potential for the role to become permanent.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing core accounting and finance activities, supporting reporting and compliance requirements, and helping management maintain visibility into financial performance. This role requires a practical, detail-oriented professional who is comfortable working in a lean environment and handling both operational and month-end responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Review cash position and support urgent disbursements and payment decisions
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activity and follow up on outstanding items
Respond to finance-related questions from management, internal teams, vendors, and clients
Oversee timesheet submissions and billing processes
Monitor ongoing finance and back-office activities and resolve issues or bottlenecks
Process weekly EFT and wire payments
Update financial forecasts and identify risks or variances
Process semi-monthly payroll across both entities
Handle payroll-related changes including new hires, terminations, vacation updates, and bonuses
Lead month-end close and reconcile accounts
Prepare monthly financial reporting packages and variance analysis against budget and prior year
Present financial results and reporting to management
Monitor key performance indicators related to contractors and placements
Track covenant compliance and prepare related reporting
Calculate commissions
Prepare executive summary reporting for leadership and the board
Complete monthly and annual government filings
Support quarterly bank compliance reporting
Assist with the external audit process

Qualifications:

Strong hands-on finance and accounting experience
Experience managing month-end close, reconciliations, payroll, reporting, and compliance
Comfortable working in a small team and taking ownership of day-to-day finance operations
Able to step into an existing environment quickly and provide stability during a transition
Experience in staffing or a similar service-based environment is preferred
NetSuite experience is an asset
Audit exposure is helpful but not essential
