Job description

What you'll do

The Product Quality Engineering Analyst is responsible for translating consumer expectations, brand standards, and regulatory requirements into clearly defined product testing specifications, Acceptance Criteria (AC), and test plans to ensure consistent product quality and performance across both new and existing product portfolios. The role leads risk-based test planning and coordinates third-party testing, inspections, and validation activities to ensure all quality requirements are met prior to product release, while supporting quality gates throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI) process to enable on-time, on-spec delivery.

This role evaluates product performance through testing, benchmarking, and data analysis, providing recommendations on product approval, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement, while ensuring that in-market products continue to meet evolving quality, safety, and performance standards. The Analyst works closely with vendors to review technical documentation, resolve issues, and maintain alignment to Canadian Tire quality requirements. They lead failure investigations and corrective action processes (CAPA), incorporating customer feedback, returns, and after-sales insights into improved testing criteria and product design. Operating within the quality systems, the role ensures all quality requirements, testing progress, and decisions are accurately documented to support traceability, auditability, and data-driven decision-making, while partnering and collaborating cross-functionally with Merchandising, Product Development, Branding, Compliance, and Supply Chain teams to embed quality throughout the end-to-end product lifecycle.

  • Develop and maintain product specifications, Acceptance Criteria (AC), and testing requirements to ensure alignment with customer expectations, brand positioning, and regulatory standards.

  • Build risk-based test plans and coordinate third-party lab testing, inspections, and validation activities; ensure all testing is completed on time and meets defined quality requirements.

  • Act as a key contributor within the New Product Introduction (NPI) process to ensure products meet quality, compliance, and performance expectations across all QA gates and timelines.

  • Assess product quality through test results, benchmarking, and evaluations; provide clear, data-driven recommendations on product approval, risk mitigation, improvement, or discontinuation.

  • Review vendor documentation including BOMs, specifications, and change requests; collaborate with vendors to ensure alignment to CTC quality standards and resolve technical issues.

  • Investigate product failures and complaints, interpret test results, and drive vendor corrective action plans; support incident reviews and ensure learnings are embedded into future requirements.

  • Analyze customer reviews, returns, and post purchase data; translate insights into improvements in testing criteria, product design, and vendor performance.

  • Own and maintain accurate documentation, testing progress, failure assessments, and recommendations within quality systems to ensure auditability, traceability, and consistent decision-making.

  • Partner with Merchandising, Product Development, Branding, Compliance, and Supply Chain teams to ensure quality requirements are embedded throughout product design, sourcing, launch, and maintained for existing products.

What you bring

  • 2+ years of experience in quality assurance, product development, engineering, or related technical field.

  • University degree in engineering, material science, or related discipline.

  • Strong consumer product and category knowledge with the ability to assess technical requirements and risks.

  • Proven ability to interpret test results, specifications, and quality data to drive decisions.

  • Strong stakeholder management and vendor communication skills.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing, consumer products, or retail quality environment.

Good to Have:

  • ASQ or equivalent quality certification(s).

  • Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience.

  • Experience with product testing, lab coordination, and inspection processes.

  • Familiarity with quality systems, workflows, and data/reporting tools.

  • Experience with consumer food-contact products (e.g., cookware, bakeware, knives, flatware, food storage, and hydration), including familiarity with FDA food-contact requirements, GRAS substances, and regulatory compliance considerations.

We’re always looking for great talent! In addition to competitive pay, we offer:

  • Comprehensive benefits and retirement programs

  • Performance incentives, Continuing Education Programs

  • Other perks to support your well-being

  • Career growth opportunities and product discounts

Broadband Salary Range: $64,000 – $106,000 CAD.
