CIMA+'s Buildings team is renowned for its expertise in designing high-quality buildings. We are committed to providing the most cost-effective solutions to engineering challenges and offer a diverse range of projects from the initial planning stages to design and construction. CIMA+ cultivates career growth and provides opportunities as unique as you are. With a constant desire to offer our clients the best possible service, we have set up a team of specialists dedicated to high-performance projects to support our clients and design teams across Canada. Join us and immerse yourself in a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative environment where you’ll make a real impact. Together, we’ll push boundaries and go above what’s expected of us to meet the challenges of tomorrow and engineer a better world!

CIMA+ is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Buildings team. In this role, you will contribute to the design and delivery of electrical systems for a wide variety of building projects across GTA. You will work closely with engineers, technologists, and other disciplines to deliver high-quality engineering solutions while supporting the continued growth of CIMA+’s local presence in the region.

This role offers a balance of technical design, project coordination, and field engagement, including site visits and construction support for projects throughout GTA.

You will have the opportunity to take part in our hybrid work model that includes flexible work hours, working from home and in our Bowmanville or Mississauga offices.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical systems for buildings including lighting, power distribution, communications, security, and fire alarm systems
  • Prepare electrical designs, drawings, and models using Microstation and AutoCAD
  • Perform electrical design calculations and assist with equipment selection and system layouts
  • Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, mechanical, and structural disciplines
  • Conduct site visits and field investigations to review existing conditions and support construction activities
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate with clients, contractors, and project teams
  • Support proposal preparation and contribute to project planning activities
  • Continued professional development through participation in internal and external learning opportunities
  • Assist in mentoring junior staff and contributing to the development of the local engineering team
  • Directly engage with clients to understand project needs and maintain strong business relationships

Qualifications

  • P.Eng. designation in Ontario
  • 10 years' experience in electrical engineering in the buildings sector, specifically in the design of power distribution; on-site standby & emergency power generation; lighting (indoor and outdoor / site) and building services & life safety systems
  • Demonstrate a commitment to client service that is second to none
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microstation
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code
  • Valid Canadian drivers licence with access to transportation for site reviews and inspections
  • Experience mentoring junior technical staff is an asset
  • Integrity, team spirit, and a commitment to excellence

At CIMA+, we value diversity of talent and perspective. You think you can add value, but don't meet all the job requirements? We invite you to apply, because everyone has something unique to offer. The outstanding talents that choose to join us at CIMA+ soon realize that we go all out to encourage them to grow. We look forward to hearing how you can contribute to our success.

Why choose CIMA+? Because we offer you:

  • Comprehensive Group Benefits available from day one for all permanent employees working at least 20 hours per week
  • Employee and Family Assistance Program
  • Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) with up to 4% employer contribution
  • As an employee-owned company, an annual opportunity to purchase shares for all eligible employees
  • Flexible work schedule in a hybrid work mode
  • Work/Life balance policy across Canada
  • 3-5 weeks of vacation, based on years of relevant experience
  • Tailored training to improve your existing skills
