Job description

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

With growing activities in Canada to meet the increasing demand for sustainable transportation, Alstom is looking for motivated candidates who will help us leverage our expertise and apply it locally.

Join us as Financial Controller, and you’ll be looking at a career-defining role based in St-Bruno, QC.

Your Future Role

Directly reporting to the Finance Director at the head office, as a Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the accuracy of financial information, compliance with accounting standards, and supporting management decisions through reliable and rigorous reporting.

You will play a key role in overseeing accounting operations and producing financial statements. Acting as a business partner to operational teams, you will work closely with project controllers and industrial controllers.

With strong financial management knowledge and skills in the industrial sector, along with advisory and leadership experience supporting internal teams in the strict application of financial standards and processes, you are our ideal candidate.

This position, based at our St-Bruno site on the South Shore of Montreal, is a permanent full-time role (40 hours/week). You must be able to work within an international, multi-site, matrix organization. The work environment is hybrid, with 3 days on-site and 2 days remote per week.

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly closing process and prepare financial statements
  • Analyze results, identify budget variances, and provide clear explanations to stakeholders
  • Produce financial analyses and support the preparation of management reports
  • Participate in the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and financial forecasts
  • Support year-end file preparation and collaborate with external auditors
  • Strictly adhere to the processes, methods, and tools in place related to these activities

Your Mission

  • Exercise methodical and proactive leadership to ensure the quality and reliability of financial reports
  • Meet established standards in terms of quality, productivity, and internal/external customer satisfaction
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects and lessons-learned (REX) initiatives from previous projects

About You

We value passion and personality as much as experience. To thrive and achieve your goals in this role, the following are essential:

  • University degree in Finance, Business Administration, or any other relevant field
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to present to senior management teams
  • Strong communication skills in both French and English
  • Proficiency with IT and office tools (Microsoft Suite, SAP ERP)

What You Will Appreciate in This Role and at ALSTOM

  • Working daily in an environment with innovative projects
  • Enjoying competitive compensation, including full social coverage (life, medical, retirement) from day one
  • Developing new skills and reaching your full potential through continuous training
  • Growth opportunities aligned with your ambitions
