We are seeking a Solar Design Student, for our Solar District that is available for 4-16 months starting September 2026.
As a Solar Design Student and depending on your assigned project, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:
Responsibilities
- Assist with coordinating and supporting the project design and procurement process, including taking detailed meeting minutes and tracking follow‑up on open action items
- Support the review of technical specifications, drawings, RFP documentation, diagrams, and other project documents to help identify key project requirements
- Assist with preliminary equipment sizing calculations and support detailed electrical studies under the guidance of senior engineers
- Create and update project layouts using AutoCAD in support of project design development
- Assist with developing energy production models to support project feasibility and performance analysis
- Support earthwork quantity estimation and assist project teams with material take‑offs, quantity optimization, and pricing compilation and recaps
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between project stakeholders by supporting RFIs and submittals through PM4+
- Assist with streamlining project and procurement processes by developing procurement operating practices and converting Excel-based tools into standardized Solar templates
- Support project teams by assisting with the development and maintenance of PM4+ procurement dashboards
- Assist with drafting purchase orders and coordinate with estimators and schedulers to support alignment with project budgets and expected delivery dates
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to support issue resolution and information flow
- Develop and maintain positive, customer‑focused working relationships with project team members and stakeholders
Qualifications
- Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a solar preconstruction function
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Superior attention to detail
- Proficient in various computer software programs, including AutoCAD, word processing, and spreadsheet applications (Excel)
- Familiarity with PM4+ and Power BI is considered an asset
- Proficiency with design and engineering software relevant to solar and renewable energy projects
- Foundational understanding of software engineering concepts and data-driven tools, with the ability to learn new systems and applications quickly
The estimated salary range for this role is $21.37- $31.34, based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
