Job description

MatchBox Consulting Group is recruiting for a Construction Manager (Level 2) to support transmission line maintenance and construction activities across British Columbia.

This is a one year contract and the role will focus on leading construction execution for large, complex infrastructure projects, ensuring delivery is completed safely, on time, and within scope. The successful candidate will oversee field activities, coordinate resources, and support both planned and reactive work within a utility environment.

This position is well suited to an experienced construction professional who thrives in dynamic field environments, has strong stakeholder management skills, and brings a solid understanding of utility operations and outage coordination.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee construction activities for large, complex infrastructure projects
  • Coordinate materials, resources, and field teams to ensure efficient project execution
  • Support both planned work and emergent response activities to maintain operational reliability
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and construction best practices
  • Conduct and support Safe Work Observations and promote a strong safety culture on site
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks including safety, environmental, and stakeholder-related risks
  • Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to support project delivery
  • Respond to construction-related inquiries and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders and communities
  • Assist in managing construction claims and resolving field-related issues
  • Support inspections and coordination activities aligned with maintenance and replacement programs
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and development of construction practices and processes

Requirements

  • Minimum 9+ years of construction management experience or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of construction oversight, field coordination, and project execution
  • Experience in utility operations and outage management
  • Solid understanding of project management principles
  • Strong knowledge of safety standards and regulations (e.g., WorkSafe requirements)
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and coordination skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic field environment
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License in good standing
  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle suitable for field/site travel

Assets

  • Power Line Technician (PLT) background
  • Experience coordinating, supporting, or supervising PLT crews
  • Experience working within transmission or utility infrastructure environments
