Job description

Overview

About Us:

Based in Nanaimo, The Hazelwood Group is a privately-owned powerhouse operating in construction, manufacturing, and real estate development. Hazelwood Finance keeps the engine running—handling IT, Marketing, HR, Accounting, and Business Development across our companies.

We’re looking for an IT Support Technician who brings equal parts technical know-how and people-first service. This role is ideal for someone who thrives working independently, takes initiative, and can be trusted to get the job done right the first time.

This position is based in-office out of our K2 Stone Vancouver location in Port Coquitlam and will support operations across our Metro Vancouver businesses, with occasional travel to Whistler. Because you’ll be on the move, a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s licence are a must for the role. If you’re resourceful, proactive, and ready to grow, we’d love to hear from you.

Benefits of Employment – Why work at Hazelwood?

  • Comprehensive group benefits (premiums are 100% employer-paid)
  • GRSP & DPSP with tiered matching:
    • 2% of base salary (0–5 years of service)
    • 4% (5+ years of service)
  • Short-term and long-term disability plans
  • Priority access to Telus Health Virtual Care (access to a doctor 24/7 anywhere in Canada)
  • Strong team environment that encourages and financially supports continuing education and career advancement
  • Employee & Family Assistance Program
  • Annual financial donations to volunteer organizations directly supported by our employees

Compensation

  • $28 to $32 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications

What You’ll Do

  • Be the first line of support for all IT issues across the organization
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, phones, networks, and servers
  • Monitor and resolve help desk tickets via email, phone, and remote support
  • Assist with network maintenance (LAN, WAN, VPN, WLAN)
  • Plan and lead basic user training sessions
  • Help evaluate and deploy new technologies
  • Manage IT inventory and lifecycle documentation
  • Liaise with vendors and manage warranties
  • Keep up to date with tech trends and innovations

What You Bring

  • CompTIA A+, Fundamentals+, or relevant experience
  • Solid understanding of networking, OS, and server environments
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and tools like QuickBooks or Sage 50
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to explain technical concepts in everyday language
  • Organized, adaptable, and eager to learn
  • Note: Criminal Record Check is required due to access to sensitive information

Summation

Thank you for considering a career opportunity with The Hazelwood Group. We appreciate your interest in joining our team. Before you proceed with your application, please take note of the following important points:
