Job description

Later is building out the data team and is looking for a Data Engineer to streamline the collection, transformation, and storage of data using the latest technologies in cloud computing. As a Data Engineer, you will partner with data scientists and analysts to design and implement pipelines to support machine learning and business intelligence across the entire organization.

This position is the perfect opportunity to work across the full data stack, finding solutions that are both scalable and secure. From requirements gathering to writing production code, you will work closely with the data science and backend teams to draft and implement the data road map.

What you'll be doing:

  • Designing and coding the complete data pipeline including ingestion of raw event data, storage, and warehousing
  • Writing, scheduling, and documenting ETL jobs
  • Optimize data infrastructure for performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Develop and enforce data governance and security policies to protect sensitive information
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and systems to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in data engineering and apply them to improve our data infrastructure
  • Requirements gathering across product, finance, and marketing for BI capabilities
  • Collaborating with back end team to ensure consistency and accuracy of data
  • Facilitating deployment of ML models at scale

We are committed to building an inclusive, supportive place for you to do the best and most rewarding work of your career. If you identify with any of the following, we encourage you to apply!

  • 4+ years of experience working as a data engineer
  • Experience designing and implementing data pipelines
  • Experience deploying ML models
  • Strong SQL and python scripting skills
  • Passionate about data and the technology industry -- you care deeply about data integrity
  • Experience using segment.io
  • Experience with container orchestration such as Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with workflow management (Airflow, Luigi, Kafka, etc.)
