Job description

Coordinator, Construction Services

Location: Edmonton, AB

Build quality. Strengthen Canada.

If you’re experienced in contract oversight and management, partnership building, and supporting safe, efficient project delivery, we’d like to meet you.

Defence Construction Canada (DCC) is a trusted partner of the Government of Canada and the Canadian construction industry since 1951, providing infrastructure and environmental solutions that support national defence at home and abroad. DCC is proud to be the first federal, and only government, organization recognized as a Gold Seal Employer under the Canadian Construction Association’s Construction Management Certification Program and proof of our commitment to excellence and professional development.

We’re looking for a senior level Coordinator, Construction Services (Construction Contract Manager) who thrives in a fast-paced environment—someone skilled in contract administration, communication, and risk management, ready to support a variety infrastructure projects for our Client Partner. By becoming a DCC team member you will have the opportunity to deliver infrastructure solutions to support Canada’s troops and the defence of the Country.

Bring your construction expertise, relationship building skills, and contract management know how to a role that ensures quality and keeps projects on schedule.

What You’ll Do

As a key member of our Construction Services team, you’ll be the go-to person overseeing a variety of construction, professional services, and service contracts during all stages of construction. You’ll spend your days:

Leading Contract Administration

Managing and administering moderate- to high-complexity construction contracts typically exceeding $25 million in value including professional service design contracts to ensure full compliance with requirements and quality expectations.

Monitoring schedules, solving day-to-day issues, managing stakeholders, and contract communication.

Driving Quality & Risk Management

Reviewing progress claims, negotiating scope changes, and interpreting contract documents with contractors, consultants, and Client-Partners.

Identifying and addressing contract risks within your delegated authority.

Being the On-Site Connector

  • Coordinating activities with site teams and other service lines.
  • Maintaining detailed site records—photos, activity updates, and documentation that tell the project story.
  • Ensuring health, safety, and industrial security requirements are met.

Supporting Project Success

  • Coordinating consultant reviews and third-party testing.
  • Managing contract financials and supporting business development opportunities.
  • Building strong, professional relationships across industry partners, Client-Partners, and internal teams.

What You Bring

A blend of technical knowledge with solid communication and problem-solving skills. You’re equally comfortable on a construction site or in front of a contract document—and you know how to keep projects moving forward.

Your Background

  • A college diploma in engineering, applied science, or a related field—plus six years of relevant experience (or an equivalent mix of training and experience).
  • A university degree in engineering or architecture is preferred.
  • Certification such as Certified Engineering Technologist or P. Eng. is an asset.

Your Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, legislation, and industry best practices.
  • Expertise in project, contract, and risk management principles.
  • Ability to interpret drawings/specifications and use relevant software tools.
  • A knack for building trust, giving functional guidance, and working effectively with cross-functional teams.

Where You’ll Work

You’ll spend time in a mixed environment. Time will be spent on active construction sites—so safety gear is part of the uniform—but also work from an office and occasionally travel as needed.

What You’ll Get

We don’t just offer a job — we offer one of the best overall benefits packages in the market, valued at 25–30% of your salary, plus long-term career growth.

Health & Wellness

• 100% employer-paid health, dental, and sick leave
• $400 annual wellness allowance
• $2,500 for mental health services + $2,500 paramedical
• Virtual healthcare and a $750 Health Spending Account

Home & Family

• Life, accident, and short-term disability insurance
• Enhanced Employee & Family Assistance Program
• Maternity & parental leave top-up (93% for up to 37 weeks)
• Flexible work options + $400 home office allowance

Time & Future

• Public service pension plan
• Generous vacation and leave packages along with deluxe travel benefit plans
