Job description

Position Summary

: This course extends and deepens the understanding of current theory and practice related to English language and literacy development including unit and long-range planning, assessment, instruction, and implementation of the Ontario Curriculum across the junior/intermediate level (grades 4 to 10). The course will focus on the consolidation of requisite knowledge and skills to establish a repertoire of research and evidence-based instructional strategies to support students’ literacy development. The course will consider a broad definition of literacy to examine the literacy practices of our changing world to include how equity, diversity, inclusion, and indigenization practices support and foster a critical orientation to teaching literacy.

Successful candidate will work with the course lead and/or team in order to provide consistency across sections.

Qualifications – Required Academic Degree: Master’s degree in Education; Bachelor of Education and/or K – 10 Teaching Certification; Grades 4–10 Ontario teaching experience in Language and Literacies.
