Job description

Job Title: Full Stack Developer
Location: Cambridge, ON - 4 days onsite
Duration: 8+ Months
Client: Automobile company
Pay Range: C$55 to C$65

Introduction

Our Systems Engineering Group is seeking a candidate to join our fast-paced dynamic environment supporting our Admin Systems Applications Team. The role includes duties through all phases of the SDLC with a focus on supporting existing custom solutions to our internal customers. Our environment is in constant update as we work to uplift and improve existing apps as well as develop and provide new functionality to our customers. The focus of this engagement is to complete some functional enhancements to several of our applications that the business owners have identified and complete some technology uplift activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience Building New Applications: Proven, hands-on experience building and launching a new application from scratch is a strict requirement for this role.
  • Experience Level: 4 years of professional experience in developing, debugging, and deploying robust web applications.
  • Core Tech Stack:
    • Front-End: Strong proficiency in modern web development using Angular 17.
    • Back-End: Deep expertise in Java 21 and the latest Spring/Spring Boot versions.
    • Database: Solid experience working with PostgreSQL for data storage and management.
  • AI-Assisted Development: Practical knowledge and experience using GitHub Copilot to enhance coding efficiency and productivity.
  • Prior work experience at client or in client's Industry

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Architecture: Experience in architecting a full-stack modern application is highly valued.
  • DevOps & Deployment: Experience with containerization using Docker and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Primary Project: Lead the end-to-end rewrite and modernization of an existing legacy Struts application into the new Spring Boot and Angular 17 stack.
  • Legacy Support: Provide interim maintenance and support for the existing J2EE application (Java, Spring, Struts, and EJB on WebSphere Application Server 8.5) during the transition phase.
  • Able to work collaboratively with the team and guide the team in technical aspects.
  • Comfort working directly with End Users to support issues or elicit new requirements is essential.
  • Capability to provide work estimates, test plans, deployment procedures, and documentation is a must.
  • Good oral and written communications skills are a must.
