Description

Under the direction of the Campus Director, the Instructor delivers curriculum, mentors adult learners, and evaluates student performance. This position requires a consistent presence at the Calgary NE campus for seminars and regular travel to practicum placement sites throughout the region to provide on-site mentorship and assessment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instructional Delivery: Lead engaging practicum seminars and deliver high-quality ECE curriculum; utilize diverse educational practices tailored for adult learners.

  • Practicum Supervision: Travel to various childcare centers and early learning facilities to observe, mentor, and evaluate students in action during their placements.

  • Student Assessment: Grade examinations, assignments, and field performance reports within five business days; maintain meticulous attendance and progress records.

  • Curriculum Maintenance: Ensure all academic tools, online course shells, and instructional materials are current and aligned with provincial ECE standards.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary liaison between the college and practicum site partners, ensuring professional and collaborative relationships.

  • Professionalism: Model the ethical standards of the ECE profession and participate in faculty meetings and orientation sessions.

Qualifications & Competencies

Education and Experience:

  • Credential: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field.

  • Certification: Must hold a valid ECE Level 3 (Child Development Supervisor) certification.

  • Teaching Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience instructing adult learners or a recognized teaching certification.

  • Field Experience: Significant hands-on experience in licensed childcare settings (daycares, preschools, or kindergartens).

Skills and Requirements:

  • Mobility: Must possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to commute between the Calgary NE campus and various practicum sites.

  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate seminars and provide constructive feedback to students.

  • Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with inclusive practices and supporting children with diverse needs (., PPD, ADHD).

  • Integrity: Absolute commitment to maintaining the confidentiality and professional standards of the college and its community partners.
