Metro Vancouver is looking for a contract Business Intelligence Developer to work with the IT Data
Analytics team on Microsoft Fabric, an on premise Data Warehouse with SQL Server Integration Services,
SQL Database and PowerBI. This assignment could start as early as November 1st, 2026. This work will be
performed virtually (3 days) and in person (2 days).
The term of this contract will be One (1) year
The Business Intelligence Developer will work in collaboration with our internal corporate clients and will
focus on:
" Translating business requirements into technical specifications
" Designing and developing modern analytics solutions leveraging Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Medallion
Architecture, data lakes, data warehouses, data pipelines, error handling, and Power BI
" Designing data models and semantic models based on technical specifications
" Exploring advanced Microsoft Fabric capabilities for analytics, reporting, and data engineering
solutions
" Designing and building end-to-end data integration and analytics solutions including:
- Data ingestion into Microsoft Fabric and OneLake
- Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers using Medallion Architecture principles
- Data pipelines using Fabric Data Factory, Dataflows, notebooks, and SSIS where appropriate
- Data transformation and loading into Fabric Lakehouses, Data Warehouses, and analytical data
stores - Error handling, monitoring, and data quality controls
- Power BI security, semantic models, dashboards, reports, and workspace administration
- Troubleshooting day-to-day Fabric, data warehouse, and data integration issues
The position requires the following technical qualifications:
" Extensive analytic development experience with Microsoft Fabric and preferably Microsoft Power
Platform.
" Experience with on premise Data Warehouse reusable framework design and implementation
" Good understanding of cloud design considerations for data storage and processing
" Experience with data modeling
" Experience with building data pipelines and ETL processes
" Extensive development experience with technologies including: SSIS, SQL Server, REST API, OLAP
cubes, BI Analytic tools
" Advanced Power BI Service configurations such as Power BI DataFlow and DataMart
" Experience in PowerBI report development, reports automation with data source refresh
configurations
" Experience with analyzing data source systems to identify data transformation needs
" Ability to prepare technical design and write technical specifications
