The Nanaimo Primary Care Network is seeking two part time (0.5 FTE each) nurse practitioners to work with a team of practitioners and other health providers to collectively deliver care to patients at the Snaw-Naw-As Health Centre.
The Snaw-Naw-As Health Centre is a 4,-square-foot facility located on the hillside overlooking Nanoose Bay, BC and is adjacent to the Tsow-tun Le Lum Society Substance Use and Trauma Treatment Centre.
The Health Centre provides Primary Care and other health services, including both modern treatments and traditional healing methods, to the Snaw-Naw-As people, of the Nanoose First Nation.
Along with 18 other tribes in the Salish Sea we are Coast Salish people, one of the northern most tribes on the east side of Vancouver Island.
The Snaw-Naw-As Health Centre is home to an interdisciplinary team of providers including Physicians, Community Health Nurse, Maternal Health Worker, and several visiting service providers including other family and child supports.
The Snaw-Naw-As Health Centre operates from to Monday to Friday; however clinic hours may change based on practice needs.

The Nurse Practitioner will provide low barrier primary care to an Indigenous patient population with complex medical needs.
This can include patients of various ages with multiple co-morbidities, past experiences with trauma and / or significant social and cultural barriers to care.
The NP will also provide primary care to Indigenous patients from the Tsow-Tun Lelum Treatment centre, who are participating in residential programs for substance use and trauma.
After hours care for patients attached to practitioner is inherent in the services. The NP will participate in an after-hours call group sharing after-hours coverage with other practitioners that includes physicians and nurse practitioners.
