Position Summary

We are looking for a driven and energetic professional to join our growing team in a fast paced client facing role. The successful candidate will have exceptional communication skills, a talent for building relationships, and a genuine curiosity about people and the businesses they’ve built.

The role requires the ability to accurately qualify and reach out to leads, effectively manage a sales pipeline, and achieve weekly, monthly, and quarterly targets.

As leads turn into deals, the Business Development Associate will have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility and be involved in the deal process the entire way through.

This role serves as a platform for future advancement within Maple River Software. Working directly with senior leaders at the company, the successful candidate will help find creative ways to build relationships with software businesses for us to acquire.

Responsibilities

Company Research and Lead Nurturing : Proactively establish and maintain relationships with software business owners through phone, email, , conferences, and in-person meetings.

Gather high-level financial and operational insights about potential acquisition targets.

  • Inbound Lead Engagement : Clearly articulate Maple River Software’s acquisition criteria and unique value proposition to prospective software business owners through effective verbal and written communication.
  • M&A Pipeline Management : Create customized messaging that resonates with key decision-makers. Generate reports on leads, schedule qualified appointments, and advance opportunities through the M&A pipeline.
  • Market Research and Analysis : Conduct research to identify promising markets and software companies for acquisition. Respond to ad-hoc requests in a fast-paced environment while performing additional tasks as needed.

Skills and Experience

  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to present effectively to C-suite executives and business owners.
  • Strong background in cold calling, particularly targeting founders and C-suite executives, to build a successful acquisition funnel.
  • Highly energetic and proactive, with a passion for building relationships.
  • Professional demeanor with a strong work ethic; able to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in business development or lead generation, preferably in a B2B context.

Nice to Haves

  • Proven ability to manage a lead pipeline and consistently exceed prospecting targets, with a strong focus on metrics.
  • Proficiency in European languages, as we are expanding globally.
  • Previous experience in M&A, software, or technology sectors.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce.
