Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Specialist will be responsible for the full cycle recruitment of craft positions ensuring project sites are staffed in an efficient, timely manner with qualified employees while creating an exceptional candidate experience.
They will work closely with and support the field management teams.
This position is located in Bedford, Nova Scotia.
What you'll be working on :
Conduct full cycle recruitment of craft positions to meet the needs of projects in line with the policies, procedures, standards and the hourly workflow including but not limited to : Actively source qualified candidates in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Develop content for job postings.Review resumes, conduct first-level phone screens confirming credentials and work experience based on site specific safety conditions and requirements.
Scheduling and participating in candidate interviews with the hiring managers.
- Participate in the hiring of temporary foreign employees including the LMIA process, facilitating the introduction of incoming foreign employees to the company, and assisting with settlement arrangements as needed.
- Provide a positive employee experience by assisting new hires with the onboarding process including new hire paperwork, online training and orientations.
- Participate in workforce planning meetings with the business and external groups.
- Coordinate travel for employees, source and arrange accommodations where required.
- Complete and organize Project Site Orientations for new hires which may include safety orientation.
- Conduct verification of required certifications and licenses.
- Issue letters of hours and employment, when required for employee banking, and trade certifications.
- Coordinate applicable training and notify individuals of pertinent details and requirements.
What we are looking for :
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business or related field.
- 2-4 years’ experience in a Human Resources role preferably in a construction, industrial maintenance or similar organization.
- Experience working in a high pace, onboarding environment for skilled trades and labor positions.
- Familiarity with the dynamics, operations, processes and organizational interdependencies of construction and industrial services.
- Knowledge of sourcing, selection and staffing strategies, programs, vendors and tools.
- Understanding of workforce-related federal and provincial employment laws and regulations.
- A proven track record of successful hiring and retention.
- Familiarity with international recruitment and the LMIA process.
- Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment.
- Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
