We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full-time, 18 month contract, Hybrid, Onsite 4 days per week. Disability Case Specialist in the Health, Safety & Wellness department.

The Disability Case Specialist supports the CAMH objective of providing high quality care to our employees experiencing a non- occupational related illness or injury.

This position supports and provides service to CAMH employees. In this role you will manage all aspects of the claim administration process, ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation, such as AODA, Employment Equity Act, Human Rights and Privacy legislation, HOODIP guidelines, and CAMH policies and procedures.

You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure positive, timely return to work outcomes with key focus on duty to accommodate, safety, and a positive employee experience.

You will respond to case issues objectively and tactfully and maintain external linkages to best practices in disability case management.

In partnership with the employee, manager, Human Resources partners, union, insurance provider and Physician consultant on return-to-work plans that support employee recovery while maintaining CAMH operations and workflow.

Key Responsibilities : Serve as Subject Matter-Expert for questions and assistance related to employee extended absences.

Partner with CAMH third party Insurer to manage activity throughout the claim life cycle; facilitates the return to work process and coordinate the medical accommodation process.

Creatively implement and evaluate return-to-work strategies including modified work programs or permanent accommodation arrangements.

Prepare metrics and absence reports, identify trends for internal stakeholders on leaves and absences. Collaborate with HR business partners to plan for new procedures, training, monitoring work once new processes have been implemented to evaluate outcomes, ensuring internal compliance, and identifying any ongoing training needs.

Liaise and work collaboratively with department leadership to ensure consistency of processes throughout the organization, as well as identifying areas to improve employee experience and partnership efficiencies.

You will process claims efficiently, complying with disability legislation CAMH policies and collective agreements. The disability case specialist works within a small but mighty team of occupational health and safety professionals who support each other and collaborate and communicate regularly.

This position is currently located at 100 Stokes Street.

Minimum Requirements

Three to five years of progressive experience in all aspects of absence disability claims management and return to work principles in a unionized environment, is required.

Strong knowledge of insurance policy interpretation, Human Rights legislation. The successful candidate will preferably possess a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Kinesiology or one of the allied health / rehabilitation sciences.

Certification as a Disability Management Professional (CDMP) or Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTW) is an asset.

You are detail oriented, exceptional customer service skills, shows initiative and demonstrates accountability. Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail.

Strong interpersonal skills in facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution. Adaptable to change and are able to work autonomously in an exciting, fast paced environment.

You are able to contribute positively to a cross-functional team environment and can work collaboratively when issues present themselves.

You have an understanding of the healthcare environment and a solid understanding of mental health and addiction issues.

Strong written and verbal communication, analytical and strategic thinking as well as demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.

Experience with Occupational Health software (Cority) would be an asset. You demonstrate the ability and interest in working with a diverse team and in an environment that values diversity and equity.

Bilingualism (French / English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

Please Note : This full-time, contract (18 months) position is NOT part of any bargaining unit.
