As a key member of the Insurance Claims Leadership team, the Manager of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) reports directly to the National Director of Recovery and Investigative Services.
In this role, you will actively contribute to the development of the SIU department, overseeing its strategy, philosophy, authority, control, and accountability structure.
What You Will Do :
- Provide leadership for the technical and personnel aspects of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).
- Manage internal and external vendors involved in investigations, including defense firms, private investigators, records review companies, and expert witnesses.
- Evolve and maintain SIU procedures to ensure compliance with industry regulations and oversee SIU training.
- Collaborate with Claims Leaders and experts on technical and administrative issues related to fraud containment.
- Ensure claims adjudication adheres to company policies, procedures, relevant laws, and insurance regulations.
- Complete and evaluate the annual company SIU report.
Who You Are :
- Possess post-secondary education in Criminology, Insurance Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Have over 10 years of experience in the Property and Casualty insurance industry.
- Hold at least 5 years of experience as an SIU manager or supervisor, coupled with 5 years as an SIU investigator.
- Demonstrate extensive litigation experience and legal knowledge.
- Completion or progress towards a CIP designation is preferred.
- Exhibit strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Showcase advanced negotiation skills and investigative logic.
- Bring progressive experience in training, mentoring, and coaching employees.
