Who we need Securian Canada is seeking a dynamic and strategic Growth Business Development Leader to drive expansion and foster new business opportunities for the Credit Union market , delivered by our independent distribution partner, Allied Solutions (www.alliedsolutions.net).

This position will play a pivotal role in identifying, creating, and executing growth strategies, as well as building relationships with partners and clients.

The successful candidate will have a strong business acumen, a track record of driving growth, and the ability to think creatively and strategically.

As a growth leader you are accountable to drive revenue growth by leveraging data to support the business strategy and driving the acquisition, conversion and retention of new clients and new business.

You will play a leadership role in enhancing Securian Canada's presence by building stronger connections in the marketplace, and driving account retention and profitability by choosing the right partners, clients and products to derive the expected successful business results.

Allied Solutions is a wholly owned and independently operated subsidiary of Securian Financial Group, providing solutions to more than 6,000 clients in North America.

What you will do

  • Develop and implement comprehensive growth strategies to expand the company's market presence and revenue streams within the Credit Union vertical for Securian Canada, utilizing Allied Solutions business development capabilities.
  • Identify and assess potential business opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations that align with the company's objectives, identifying the right partners and clients we want to grow with.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with potential partners, clients and industry stakeholders.
  • Assume responsibility for meeting growth quotas, profit-based sales targets and sales forecasts, and maintaining a high level of performance.
  • Conduct market research and analyze market trends to identify the best growth possibilities and evaluate current client needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-foundational teams to develop and execute growth plans, including marketing, business, product and sales teams to ensure profitability is maximized based on new product / program design, both with Securian Canada and Allied Solutions.
  • Lead the development and execution of go-to-market strategies for new products or services.
  • Deliver and support all stages of the sales process including forecast accuracy, account detail within CRM platform, maintaining sales control and guiding internal teams to collaborate and rally around development of innovative solutions to meet or exceed identified sales targets.
  • Develop sales proposal (RFI, RFP) responses.
  • Monitor and report on key performance metrics to evaluate the success of growth initiatives.

What you will bring

  • 10+ years' experience in long cycle business development, including at least 5 in the financial services industry, specifically with Credit Unions.
  • Proven experience in business development growth achievements in the insurance industry within the Canadian market, with a focus on Ontario-based Credit Unions
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results and achieve / exceed growth targets.
  • Capable of working within a complex, matrixed environment with multiple stakeholder engagements.
  • Proven experience negotiating win-win solutions that demonstrates and exceeds business and relationship value for clients and internal stakeholders alike.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Solid network in the insurance industry within the Canadian / Ontario market.
  • Propension for innovation and challenging status quo.
  • Proficiency is using data and analytics to inform strategy.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively.
  • Attention to detail.
