About the opportunity :
The Quality and Food Safety Data Manager leads the Quality and Food Safety function digital transformation program, starting with the development and implementation of a new data collection and reporting framework for Quality and Food Safety at Corporate and plant levels, analyzing and interpreting complex data related to quality and food safety metrics, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to enhance processes and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
This role plays a crucial part in driving continuous improvement in quality, food safety, and operational efficiency (process streamlining, productivity) across the organization by leveraging data-driven approaches.
The attributes we are looking for :
- Implement new digital tools or upgrade existing data management systems to improve data volume, accuracy, accessibility, and analysis efficiency.
- Lead the Quality and Food Safety (QFS) digital transformation program as a priority pillar of the function long-term plan (LTP).
- Implement and manage the Datahex App, Suite (Paperless, Supplyline, MyHaccpPlan) and etc. at the plants.
- Work closely with IT team, the plants and DQG function at the Lactalis Headquarter in Laval to implement in Canada the Quality and Food Safety IT solutions requested by Lactalis Headquarter (Zendesk, Labvantage LIMS )
- 2. Project Management :
- Lead Quality and Food Safety digital transformation projects.
- Participate in quality improvement and food safety projects, ensuring milestones and objectives are met.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure that data-related aspects are incorporated effectively and provide insights to enhance decision-making processes.
- 3. Data Analysis & Reporting :
- Collect, clean, process and analyze quality and food safety data from various internal and external sources (e.g., labs, production lines, supply chain, audits, complaints, etc).
- Generate reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to communicate findings, key performance indicators (KPIs), and trends to stakeholders.
- Support the development of predictive models to anticipate potential risks related to food safety and quality issues.
- Utilize advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze data and predict trends.
- 4. Process Improvement :
- Identify patterns and trends in food safety and quality data that indicate opportunities for process improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Production, Supply Chain, R&D, and Regulatory Affairs) to implement corrective actions and improve operational performance.
- Monitor through KPIs the effectiveness of quality and food safety initiatives and continuously provide feedback to optimize processes.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in data science and IT tools related to Quality 4.0.
- 5. Stakeholder Collaboration :
- Serve as a key liaison between the Quality & Food Safety team and other departments, including corporate teams as well as plants, to share insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
- Collaborate with external partners, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to ensure data accuracy and to support quality and food safety initiatives.
- Provide technical support and training to staff and plants on using data systems and reporting tools, focusing on the Datahex App, Suite, and etc.
What you will bring :
- Master’s degree in data science, Statistics, Manufacturing performance, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree associated with significant professional experience will also be considered.
- 3-5 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in a manufacturing and quality & food safety environment.
- Proven track record of using data analytics to drive quality and food safety process improvement.
- Knowledge of Change management and Lean Manufacturing tools and methods
- Strong Project management skills
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and statistical software (e.g., Minitab).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze large data sets and provide meaningful insights to improve processes.
- Ensuring accuracy in data collection, reporting, and analysis
- Effectively communicate complex data and findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Work effectively across teams to implement quality and safety improvements.
- Ability to work independently with multiple stakeholders on multiple projects simultaneously.
