We are looking for a strong Print Production & Operations manager to support our operations in Toronto, Ontario. The Print Production and Operations Manager will oversee the end-to-end print production process, ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality printed materials.
This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of print production processes, and the ability to manage a team of production staff.
Key Responsibilities :
Production Management :
- Oversee the entire print production process, from planning to final delivery.
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet project deadlines.
- Coordinate with editorial, design, and sales teams to ensure alignment on production needs.
Operations Oversight :
- Manage daily operations of the print production department.
- Monitor production workflows to identify and address bottlenecks.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and industry regulations.
Team Leadership :
- Lead, mentor, and motivate the production team.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback for professional development.
- Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment.
Vendor Management :
- Establish and maintain relationships with print vendors and suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing to ensure cost-effective production.
- Monitor vendor performance and address any issues promptly.
Budget Management :
- Develop and manage the production budget.
- Track and report on production costs, identifying areas for cost savings.
- Ensure projects are completed within budget constraints.
Quality Control :
- Implement quality control processes to ensure the highest standards of print quality.
- Conduct regular inspections of printed materials and address any quality issues.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
Process Improvement :
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
- Implement new technologies and methodologies to enhance production capabilities.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline workflows.
Health and Safety :
- Ensure a safe working environment for all production staff.
- Implement and enforce health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety audits and address any identified risks.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Print Production, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in print production management, preferably within the publishing industry.
- Strong understanding of print production processes, equipment, and technologies.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in production management software and tools.
