Location : Esquimalt Graving Dock

Position Status : Part-Time and Full-Time

Shifts : Various days, evenings, and overnight shifts

Wage : $19.38 per hour plus RRSP contribution by employer

Reports to : Site Supervisor

Key Responsibilities :

• Access Control : Monitor and control access to the facility, ensuring only authorized personnel and visitors enter. Verify identification and issue temporary passes as needed.
• Patrol Duties : Conduct regular patrols to detect and deter any suspicious activity or potential security threats.
• Surveillance Monitoring : Operate and monitor surveillance and alarm systems to identify and respond to any security breaches.
• Incident Response : Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies, taking appropriate action to resolve the situation and minimize risk.
• Report Writing : Prepare detailed and accurate incident reports, daily logs, and other security documentation as needed.

Maintain clear communication with supervisors and other security personnel.

Customer Service : Provide assistance and guidance to visitors and employees, ensuring a positive experience while maintaining security standards.

Qualifications And Experience :

• Must possess a valid BC Security Workers License or be willing to obtain it.
• Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance and be a minimum of 19 years of age.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
• Proficiency in using security technology (e.g., alarm and access control systems).
• Physical fitness and ability to perform duties requiring standing, walking, and patrolling for extended periods.

Working Conditions :

• Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required.
• Must be able to work in various weather conditions if patrols involve outdoor areas.
• The position requires standing or walking for extended periods.
