Role Overview
We are seeking an FPGA Engineer to join a product development team supporting the evolution of a complex, mission‑critical communications platform. The team is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enhancements and capabilities across a secure, integrated communications system used in operational environments.
The successful candidate will design, develop, and unit test new features, system enhancements, and defect fixes. The platform supports a combination of on‑platform and off‑platform communications services including networking, radio communications, system management, and user applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and unit test software and firmware enhancements for a complex communications system
- Develop and maintain FPGA‑based designs supporting networking and communications functionality
- Support services including network data routing and forwarding, radio and long‑haul communications, and system management services
- Debug, analyze, and resolve firmware and FPGA design issues
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems teams to support integration and future capability development
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in FPGA or ASIC development
- Strong knowledge of VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog
- Strong experience with simulation and verification methodologies
- Strong knowledge of FPGA synthesis, implementation, and timing analysis
- Proven ability to prototype designs using FPGA development boards
- Strong FPGA debug and troubleshooting skills
- Working knowledge of C or C++ and bare‑metal FPGA driver development
- Ability to read and interpret hardware datasheets and schematics
Nice to Have
- Experience with secure or mission‑critical communications systems
- Exposure to networking, radio communications, or embedded systems
- Experience working in regulated or safety‑critical environments
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Calgary, AB.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
Workplace TypeThis is a fully onsite position in Calgary,AB.
