Job description

Position summary

Identifies customer targets, develops a process to maintain visibility with and build relationships with decision makers to foster future business opportunities. Develops future profitable sales, including matching new business opportunities with current service capacity, while maximizing the GFS value proposition. Plays a key role in Customer on boarding and new contract implementation.

Location : successful candidate must be able to commute to the Milton Distribution Centre.

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Business Development

  • Target Growth: Identify and pursue high-potential customers to build long-term partnerships.

  • Industry Expertise: Stay ahead of foodservice trends, competitor moves, and customer needs (e.g., staffing, profitability).

  • Value Creation: Build custom solutions that match GFS capabilities with what the customer values most.<

Sales & Negotiation

  • Professional Pitching: Design and deliver high-impact presentations and product demonstrations.

  • Smart Pricing: Use data and profitability models to negotiate contracts that benefit both GFS and the customer.

Relationship & Transition Management

  • Executive Connection: Engage with key decision-makers to secure buy-in.

  • Seamless Onboarding: Manage the entire setup process for new customers and transition them smoothly to an Account Manager.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure success.

Administration & Reporting

  • CRM Accuracy: Keep contact management software updated so the team is always informed.

  • Performance Updates: Provide monthly reports to leadership on sales activities and market developments.

  • Industry Presence: Represent the company at industry events and associations.

  • Network Alignment: Ensure new business fits within the GFS distribution network and growth goals.

Experience & Competencies

  • Must have excellent written, verbal, organizational and communication skills as well as problem-solving capabilities.

  • Must have ability to prepare and deliver presentations and may speak at minor functions as a departmental representative.

  • Must have the ability to multitask, prioritize and be able to work independently or within a team environment.

  • Must have strong negotiation, customer service focus, be a strategic thinker, inquisitive, innovative and creative in order to build relationships, network, link resources and apply business practices.

  • Ability to understand and utilize market research and P&L statements.

  • Ability to develop solutions to a variety of complex problems. May refer to established precedents and policies

  • Must be able to travel to different locations.
