Job description

Job Title: SharePoint Architect
Job Type: Full Time
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced SharePoint Architect to design and govern secure, scalable SharePoint and Microsoft 365 solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SharePoint architecture, information architecture, governance, security, migrations, and Microsoft 365 integrations.

The role will translate business, security, compliance, integration, and migration requirements into target architectures, technical standards, roadmaps, and reusable design patterns while providing technical leadership across delivery teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define target-state architecture for SharePoint Online, SharePoint Server, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Power Platform, and related Microsoft 365 services.
  • Design enterprise information architecture including hubs, sites, navigation, taxonomy, metadata, content types, search, permissions, and content lifecycle.
  • Establish governance and security standards for provisioning, ownership, external sharing, access, retention, records management, DLP, and compliance.
  • Lead architecture for on-premises-to-cloud, tenant-to-tenant, file-share, and legacy-platform migrations.
  • Define migration assessment, tooling, mapping, validation, cutover, and stabilization strategies.
  • Design modern solutions and integrations using SharePoint Framework, Power Platform, Microsoft Graph, APIs, Azure services, and Microsoft 365 extensibility models.
  • Define modernization strategies for classic sites, legacy workflows, forms, customizations, and unsupported integrations.
  • Produce architecture documents, standards, decision records, security models, migration patterns, and operational runbooks.
  • Lead design reviews, proof-of-concepts, technical risk assessments, and quality assurance activities.
  • Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, performance, accessibility, and supportability requirements.
  • Partner with business, architecture, security, engineering, vendor, and support teams.
  • Mentor technical teams and resolve complex architectural and design issues.

Required Technical Skills & Experience

  • Advanced expertise in SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365, OneDrive, Teams, and SharePoint Server.
  • Strong knowledge of information architecture, enterprise content management, search, permissions, governance, and records management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Purview, including retention, sensitivity labels, DLP, eDiscovery, audit, and external sharing.
  • Hands-on experience with SharePoint Framework, Power Apps, Power Automate, Microsoft Graph, REST APIs, PnP PowerShell, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Azure integration services.
  • Strong experience with SharePoint migration assessment, remediation, execution, reconciliation, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with migration tools such as ShareGate, Migration Manager, or comparable products.
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps or GitHub, CI/CD, Agile delivery, and IT service-management practices.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, technical leadership, and problem-solving skills.
