Job description

Department Manager

We are more than just your local McDonald's-we are a proud, locally owned and operated business on Vancouver Island. With six McDonald's restaurants in our community, we're passionate about serving the people we know and love, and giving back to the places we call home. We're more than a restaurant; we're an active part of the local landscape, constantly engaging in local events, supporting local initiatives, and fostering a sense of connection. Our team members are at the heart of everything we do, and we're committed to ensuring they grow, thrive, and succeed.

As part of our team, you'll be joining our McFamily - dedicated to serving exceptional customer service and having a positive impact on every guest that visits our restaurants. Our commitment to the local community and our people creates a unique, family-like culture that's supportive, passionate, and rewarding.

The starting annual wage based on experience is $50,000 , with an additional bonus program, RRSP's, extended health benefits, and more. Previous McDonald's experience is not required - we provide a comprehensive training program to set you up for success. However, managerial experience is strongly preferred.

What working with us means : At our locally owned and operated McDonald's, we offer much more than just a job. Here, you'll have the chance to grow professionally while enjoying a flexible and inclusive environment. Specifically, you'll benefit from :

  • Access to education and skills development opportunities that will take you further
  • A total rewards package that includes discounts, incentives, and recognition perks
  • A safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace
  • An authentic, welcoming environment where all individuals-no matter their age, background, or culture-are celebrated, just like the guests we serve every day
  • Being a key part of a team that makes a difference in the community through local events and outreach

The job

You probably already have a good idea of what working with us is like, but here's a closer look at some of the highlights of your role as Department Manager :

  • Inspiring and leading a team that embodies pride, excellence, and the delivery of world-class service
  • Ensuring a safe, secure, and clean environment for your guests, team, and yourself
  • Managing and guiding Crew Members to success
  • Actively participating in local community events that contribute to the vibrancy and growth of the area
  • Upholding McDonald's renowned cleanliness and operational standards
  • Driving sales and profits-building both the business and your professional and financial value
  • Your vibe and experience

While experience in food service or retail-whether as a barista, server, cashier, team member, or manager-is helpful, what matters most is who you are.

You lead by example, hold yourself and your team to high standards, and continuously raise the bar. When challenges arise, you approach them with confidence and an eye for solutions. Above all, you know that putting people first creates a positive culture, which leads to happier, more engaged staff, and ultimately, a better experience for your guests.

    About us

Since 1954, McDonald's has been a global leader in foodservice, but our story began on Vancouver Island in 1967, where we opened our first McDonald's location in Canada. As a locally owned and operated group of restaurants, we are proud to be an integral part of the Vancouver Island community. Our commitment to quality, value, and local impact drives everything we do.

At McDonald's Canada and our locally owned restaurants, we are dedicated to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. We believe in providing fair, equitable, and accessible opportunities for all our employees and prospective employees. Accommodations are available upon request during the application process.

Join us, and become part of a family that truly cares about our people, our community, and making a difference every day.

We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those who are legally entitled to work in Canada will be considered.
