Job description

We are seeking a highly accomplished DevOps Specialist III for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in North York. In this role, you will take on a premier DevOps, cloud automation, and infrastructure engineering capacity, specializing in accelerating pipeline delivery, automating credential lifecycles, and supporting modern database operations.

As a senior DevOps specialist, you will bridge the gap between software delivery, security controls, and infrastructure automation. Operating within a flexible hybrid work model, you will work closely with cross-functional DBA, security, and infrastructure teams to enhance existing Terraform modules, build complex Jenkins CI/CD pipelines, execute Ansible workflows, and implement secure secret rotation frameworks. This position demands a technical automation authority with strong Python scripting skills and AWS expertise who can ramp up quickly, take full ownership of technical initiatives, and optionally contribute to emerging GenAI and agentic AI integrations.

Location: North York, ON

Assignment Type: Hybrid (Onsite approximately 2 days per month)

Contract Duration: 12-month contract

Advantages
High-Impact DevOps Automation: Accelerate complex CI/CD pipeline delivery, Terraform refactoring, and enterprise secret rotation workflows.

Modern Cloud & Infrastructure Tech Stack: Work hands-on with Jenkins JTE/Groovy libraries, Ansible AAP2, HashiCorp Vault, CyberArk, and AWS services.

Optional Emerging GenAI Exposure: Opportunity to design agentic AI solutions, RAG pipelines, and AWS Bedrock integrations based on technical background.

Flexible Hybrid Model: Enjoy a balanced working structure with minimal in-office attendance required.

Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain enterprise CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins declarative and scripted pipelines, Groovy shared libraries, and JTE.

Develop, refactor, and manage reusable Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates and state files using Terraform across multi-environment setups.

Develop and extend Ansible roles, collections, Jinja templates, and execution environments within Ansible Automation Platform 2 (AAP2).

Implement secure, automated lifecycle management and rotation of passwords, service accounts, and API keys using HashiCorp Vault, CyberArk, and Active Directory integrations.

Integrate CI/CD automation pipelines with enterprise systems via REST APIs, including ServiceNow, Bitbucket, and Artifactory.

Support containerization and deployment workflows across Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, and Podman environments.

Support database operations and infrastructure automation across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Redshift data stores.

Author Python, Bash, and PowerShell scripts to automate operational tasks, logging, error handling, and runbook execution.

Ensure all automation designs comply with enterprise security controls, audit requirements, and strict change-management protocols.

Optionally design and build GenAI and agentic AI tools, model context protocols (MCP), and API tool-calling integrations using AWS Bedrock.

Qualifications
Core Requirements & Automation Expertise
DevOps Engineering Tenure: Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, and infrastructure automation.

AWS Cloud Platform: Practical experience across core AWS services, including IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, Secrets Manager, and CloudWatch.

Ansible AAP2 Mastery: Advanced experience using Ansible Automation Platform 2, including custom execution environments, roles, collections, and dynamic inventory.

Jenkins Pipeline Engineering: Hands-on proficiency building complex Jenkins pipelines, Groovy shared libraries, and credential management integration.

Terraform Infrastructure-as-Code: Deep experience managing, refactoring, and improving reusable Terraform modules and state environments.

Security & Secret Rotation: Practical experience implementing secure password, certificate, and secret rotation using HashiCorp Vault, CyberArk, and Active Directory/LDAP.

Scripting & APIs: Strong scripting skills in Python (primary language) alongside Bash or PowerShell, and REST API integration experience.

Containerization & Source Control: Experience with Git/Bitbucket workflows, Docker/Podman, and Kubernetes/OpenShift deployments.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.

Preferred Assets & Specialized Experience
Cloud Certifications: Active AWS Certified Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer Professional designations.

GenAI & Agent Frameworks: Production experience with GenAI, RAG pipelines, LangChain/LangGraph, MCP, prompt engineering, or AWS Bedrock AgentCore.

Observability Tools: Exposure to Grafana, InfluxDB, or related logging and monitoring stacks.

Soft Skills & Delivery Attributes
Independent Execution & Ownership: Proactive self-starter with a security-first mindset capable of ramping up rapidly and driving initiatives with minimal supervision.

Analytical Problem Solving: Superior troubleshooting capabilities with a disciplined approach to change management and complex technical dependencies.

Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to interact seamlessly with DBAs, application developers, security leads, and infrastructure teams.
