About the Position The HR Generalist is responsible for the delivery of professional Human Resources services through a broad range of practices, including recruitment, advisory support (i.e., policy, employee relations, leave and absence management), benefits administration, etc. In collaboration with the HR and Leadership teams, they develop, execute, and champion Human Resources initiatives that support organizational goals.

Duties and Responsibilities Employee Relations:
- Develop and maintain company policies and procedures manual, ensuring compliance with Federal and Provincial legislation.
- Act as a resource to all employees regarding issues or concerns that cannot be handled by a direct supervisor or manager.
- Guide Supervisors and Managers with personnel concerns and issues in keeping with Employment Standards and Human Rights.
- Develop and work with supervisors and managers to implement policies and procedures.
- Advise Supervisors and Managers on correct termination procedures and administer any termination paperwork/packages.
- Assist in managing disciplinary processes, involving Senior Management or legal counsel, when and where required.
- Carry out workplace conduct investigations and provide report and recommendations to leadership.
- Manage the employee annual performance cycle, including providing guidance to Leadership on process and best practice.
- Manage and administer employee transactions such as schedules, changes in job titles, job responsibilities, personal records, salary adjustments and appraisal programs.
- Monitor and, where required, develop WCB Compliance programs.
- Administer and coach supervisors and managers to implement return to work programs for injured or ill employees, relating to WCB claims.
- Prepare management reports relating to headcount, external wage statistics and other ad hoc reports as requested from time to time.
Recruiting and Onboarding:
- Full-cycle recruitment (screen job applicants, set up interviews, and background checks).
- Work with recruitment agencies to establish search parameters and carry out searches on behalf of the Company.
- Interview and assist leadership in selecting appropriate job applicants for employment.
Training and Development:
- Develop, administer and facilitate training initiatives, lunch and learn sessions.
- Train and coach supervisors and managers on best practice in various areas related to employment and Human Resources best practice.
Compensation:
- Research and analyze wages/salary information to ensure equitable compensation is offered for job requirements.
- Research alternate means for compensation to attract the ideal candidate such as hours of work, benefits, vacation.
- Work with management to ensure wages and salaries are set according to established job requirements/position profiles.
- Participate in salary/wage surveys.
- Investigate subsidy and incentive programs, determine qualifications and apply.
Benefits and RRSP Administration:
- Benefits Administration for Company Group Benefits and RRSP programs.
- Participate and analyze annual benefit renewal. Examine rate changes and provide explanation / recommendations to control costs.
- Troubleshoot employee benefits issues/concerns with third party insurers.
- Communicate benefit program and coverage to new and existing employees.
Human Resources Information System:
- Work closely with HR and Leadership teams to implement remaining modules of UKG (recruitment, onboarding, feedback, document management).
- Identify opportunities within UKG to gain efficiencies with current processes. Implement and train Managers on best practice within system.
- Participate in ongoing development of system use with the goal of reducing redundant work and/or duplications of efforts.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary education in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field required.
- CPHR Designation or CPHR Candidate Designation held in good standing is required.
- Five (5) or more years of progressive HR experience working with a diverse internal customer base.
- Understanding of employment legislation is required.
- Previous, hands-on experience using UKG is preferred. Experience with other HRIS, ATS or HR software required.
- Understanding of benefits and pension administration is desired.
- Criminal record check required.
- Work is performed onsite.
- Manual dexterity required to work with computers and peripherals.
