Job descriptionCollaborate with Research and Baseball Systems teams to set up automated processes for model versioning and deployment Build systems, dashboards, and reports for displaying model performance for the research team, highlighting actionable insights Participate in data gathering, cleaning, model tuning and code review as part of a collaborative data science team. Recommend new technologies and methodologies for improving modelling and machine learning products 2+ years working in the data science field, building or deploying machine learning models and working on end-to-end deployment of data science products Proficiency with R, Python, or similar data science programming languages Passion for baseball and excellent reasoning, problem-solving, creative thinking, and communication skills The ability to work with multicultural populations and a commitment to fairness and equality. Ability to work occasional evening, weekend, and holiday hours as dictated by the baseball calendar. Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field. Higher level academic qualifications are a plus. Experience with cloud services and infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP). Experience with Airflow, MLFlow, Dagster, or another task orchestration framework. Experience running data science models in Docker, Kubernetes, or another containerization technology.
Position : Machine Learning Engineer, Baseball Research
Overview :
The Toronto Blue Jays are seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join their Baseball Operations Research team to advance their development and deployment of predictive models and other baseball analytics products. This role will assist the Baseball Research team with the technical aspects of the data science workflow to improve the efficiency, scalability, and maintainability of our projects. This role will also work closely with the Baseball Systems team to develop reusable tools and systems for deployment of research projects.
Primary Focus :
- Develop repeatable processes for deploying machine learning and other data science products.
- Help define the standards for production-level data science work and assist in upholding them.
- Set up automated reporting to monitor the accuracy and stability of models.
