Job description

Impala Canada is the owner and operator of the Lac des Iles Mine, located 90 minutes northwest of Thunder Bay, Ontario. In operation for 30 years, the LDI Mine is one of only two known pure palladium sources in North America. Palladium contributes to a cleaner global environment, with its leading use in catalytic converters that reduce harmful emissions from gas-powered and hybrid vehicles.

The LDI Mine features a unique ore body and modern infrastructure, including underground and surface mining and milling operations. The LDI Mine is in Robinson-Superior Treaty territory, and the land on which we operate is the traditional territory of the Anishnaabeg and the Métis. As a responsible neighbour in the Thunder Bay region, Impala Canada actively partners with local organizations, programs, and events focused on healthcare, education, and community development to help enhance the quality of life for all.

Job Description :

Reporting to the Maintenance Planning and Reliability General Foreman, the successful candidate will work at the Lac des Iles mine site; rotation to be determined.

Key responsibilities include :

Ensure the performance of problematic equipment and propose sustainable solutions.
Monitor and initiate actions on both live feed data and other leading indicators (e.g., vibration monitoring, oil sampling, NDT, UE, and thermography).
Conduct risk management, collecting and analyzing data to support and initiate predictive maintenance actions.
Collaborate to develop and review the predictive / preventative maintenance programs.
Track components and follow up on component failures with OEM, including warranty tracking.
Prepare and perform RCA reports on equipment failures.
Perform FMEA to improve the PM Program.
Support the Maintenance, Planning, and Operations teams for shutdown forecasting and any other related tasks.

Qualifications :

Required qualifications include :

University Degree or trade qualification in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or 5 years of maintenance / reliability experience in a mining and milling environment.

Background in Reliability Centered Maintenance including PDM, condition monitoring, criticality analysis, and RCA is considered an asset.

Membership in, or working toward a professional designation (P.Eng, CMRP, CMRT, MMP, MLA, MLT, etc.) is considered an asset.

Understanding of equipment dynamics, machine maintenance, and equipment information systems.

Ability to prioritize and plan, with attention to both leading and lagging indicators requiring action.

Fluent in both oral and written English.

Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, AutoCAD, and CMMS.

Proven problem solver with various methodologies.

Technical writing skills and effective communication.

Exposure to OSI PI is considered an asset.
