Adecco is currently hiring an AI Research Engineer for a full-time temporary opportunity in Markham, ON. This role is ideal for an experienced AI professional with expertise in large language models (LLMs), distributed AI systems, and next-generation AI architectures. If you are passionate about advancing foundational AI models and contributing to cutting-edge research, this is an exciting opportunity to work on industry-leading innovations.
In this position, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, and optimize large-scale AI models while shaping the future of AI infrastructure and distributed computing.
  • Salary: $68.00/hour
  • Location: Markham, ON
  • Schedule: Full-time schedule

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal and external organizations to lead the design of foundational model architectures for large language models (LLMs), code generation, and multimodal AI through advancements in post-training and continual training.
  • Develop state-of-the-art foundational AI models with a focus on performance, scalability, hardware efficiency, and industry impact.
  • Propose technical requirements for large-scale distributed training and inference infrastructures, including parallelization strategies and operator fusion.
  • Analyze the computational characteristics of AI architectures to support the evolution of advanced AI hardware and infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the design and optimization of AI systems that support large-scale model training and deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation in AI model performance and distributed computing technologies.
  • Stay current with emerging AI architectures, research trends, and infrastructure advancements.
Qualifications
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.
  • Demonstrated experience training and optimizing cutting-edge AI models and applications, including models with 10B+ parameters.
  • Strong knowledge of modern AI architectures, including long-sequence models, reinforcement learning, multimodal AI, and AI agents.
  • Deep understanding of AI algorithms and model optimization techniques.
  • Strong proficiency with AI frameworks such as PyTorch, vLLM, and SGLang.
  • Experience with distributed training and inference techniques.
  • Familiarity with AI hardware architectures, including GPUs, NPUs, and TPUs.
  • Understanding of memory hierarchy and high-performance interconnect technologies is considered an asset.
  • PhD in AI Architecture, Computer Architecture, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Strong publication record in AI systems, AI architecture, or chip design is considered an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary research teams.
