Job description

Our manufacturing client in Midland, Ontario is growing — and we’re looking for a detail-driven, globally minded Customs Coordinator to join their team.

You will play a critical role in ensuring export/import compliance across Canadian, U.S., and international operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Ensuring compliance with Canadian, U.S., and international export/import regulations
  • Reviewing and approving domestic and international hardware export authorizations
  • Preparing and reviewing customs documentation (Commercial Invoices, CARM & CERS filings, USMCA and FTA analysis, HS code validation, tariff mitigation)
  • Managing technology transfers and deemed exports (DSER forms)
  • Reviewing Destination Control Statements for ITAR, EAR, and Controlled Goods shipments
  • Preparing end-user statements and supporting Supply Chain compliance
  • Conducting import classification, valuation, and country-of-origin analysis
  • Supporting trade compliance and security audits, implementing corrective actions as needed
  • Assisting with compliance training initiatives
  • Supporting due diligence activities (FCPA, Cyber DFARS, sanctions approvals, vendor certifications)

What You Bring

  • University degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years of export/import or shipment experience in Canada
  • Working knowledge of Canadian Controlled Goods Regulations, ITAR, EAR (asset)
  • Familiarity with Canada Customs and Global Affairs Canada regulations (asset)
  • Strong multitasking ability in a fast-paced environment
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Self-motivated, positive, and eager to learn and grow

Important Security Requirement

This position involves technologies regulated under Canada’s Controlled Goods Program and Contract Security Program.

To qualify, candidates must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Have lived in Canada for at least five consecutive years
  • Successfully complete required security screening
