At ABB, we help industries run leaner and cleaner—and every person here makes that happen. You’ll be empowered to lead, supported to grow, and proud of the impact we create together. Join us and help run what runs the world.

This Position reports to:

Superviseure - Ingénierie Système SDS et Planification projets

At ABB, we help industries move faster, more efficiently, and more cleanly. Here, progress is an expectation—for you, your team, and the world. As a global leader, we empower you to make things happen. It won’t always be easy, because growth requires tenacity. But at ABB, you will never run this race alone.

The quality and innovative engineering behind our products, systems, and services allow our customers to stay at the forefront. Developing solutions for clients worldwide and working with our leading‑edge technologies will stimulate and enrich both your work and your mind.

The ABB Measurement & Analytics plant in Quebec is the global leader in spectroscopy. Our contract engineering department is the largest Canadian supplier of spaceborne optical sensors used for greenhouse gas emission monitoring and worldwide weather forecasting, among other applications. Our plant is recognized for its expertise in developing and manufacturing various products that allow us to meet many industrial analysis needs on a daily basis.

By joining one of the largest engineering departments in Quebec (Canada), you will be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team. You will supervise and guide the development of instruments in the space and defense (SDS) domain. You will be responsible for ensuring their successful delivery on time, on budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards.

The engineer or scientist we are seeking has strong analytical skills, is autonomous, able to work within a multidisciplinary team, and has experience in research and development for the design and analysis of space instrument systems.

Your Role: Take on the Challenge

  • Interact directly with project managers and customers to understand requirements and adjust them as needed.

  • Ensure technical coordination of a multidisciplinary project team using an Agile methodology.

  • Track technical actions and plan short‑term schedules.

  • Define the effort required to achieve current objectives and monitor estimates.

  • Assist the project manager with strategic planning, execution, and project cost tracking.

  • Ensure requirements management, design, system compliance, performance tracking, and technical risk management.

  • Document current work methods, recommend improvements, and help implement changes.

  • Organize and contribute to presentations—in French and English—for customers or the technical team during design reviews or other milestones.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, or equivalent, with 5 years of experience as a system lead or system engineer.

  • Experience developing infrared optical instruments for space missions or remote sensing.

  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.

  • Proven ability to produce clear and concise project documentation and to manage product configuration.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with standard procedures and methodologies for space operations and to contribute to the evolution toward Space 2.0.

  • Proficiency with the following tools: JIRA, Windchill, MS Project, Office suite.

  • Bilingual French‑English (oral and written). French is required. English is also required for regular communication with clients outside Quebec.

Why ABB?

We empower you to take initiative, challenge ideas, and lead with confidence. You’ll grow through meaningful work, continuous learning, and support that’s tailored to your goals. Every idea you share and every action you take contributes to something bigger.
