Job description

Job Profile

The Innovation and Technology Department – Community Services Division is offering Internship employment opportunities as a Programmer Analyst 1 Intern (Desktop Support) to work in the Desktop Support stream.

As the Programmer Analyst 1 – Intern (Desktop Support), you will:

  • Assist with the day-to-day operation and troubleshooting of the Departments information systems.
  • Manage Active Directory including user account creation, deletion, and permissions management.
  • Deploy desktops and ensure they are configured correctly for end users.
  • Perform remote and onsite troubleshooting including hardware and software issues.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain systems software and hardware to end users to maintain effective and efficient system operation.
  • Maintain departmental hardware and software inventory records.
  • Prepare status reports reflecting current and projected workloads.
  • Perform imaging of computers to ensure consistent and efficient deployment.
  • Manage assets including tracking and updating inventory records.
  • Document processes and procedures to ensure knowledge transfer and consistency.
  • Provide superior customer service to all users, ensuring their needs are met promptly and effectively.
  • Other duties as assigned consistent with the job classification.

Your education and qualifications include:

  1. Successful completion of at least 1 year of a recognized university/college program in Information Systems and Technology, or equivalent.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of current microcomputer hardware and software.
  3. Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Operating Systems including Windows 10.
  4. Ability to use Office 365 Suite products.
  5. Successful completion of Microsoft A+ certification is preferred.
  6. Good verbal and written communication skills
  7. Organizational and time management skills with the ability to be flexible and responsive to changing priorities.
  8. Ability to develop effective and positive working relationships.
