Who We Are

Simon Fraser University is a leading research university, advancing an inclusive and sustainable future. Our purpose – the essence of SFU – is to create and connect knowledge, learning and community for deeper understanding and meaningful impact. We are committed to fostering excellence, innovation, belonging and community in all that we do.

Grounded in our RADIUS principles, our work centres the voices, agency, and choices of communities that are historically, persistently, and systemically marginalized. It is inspired and motivated by the lived expertise and experiences of our team and the communities we work with. We strive to walk the talk when it comes to embedding Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion into how and why we do the work we do.

About the Role

The Director, RADIUS Programs is a member of the RADIUS Senior Leadership Team, actively participating in setting organizational strategies, budgets, and culture. The role is responsible for all aspects of designing and delivering RADIUS' systems change labs, and consulting and training services. The role plays a key role in identifying and determining the programs to pursue, and the design, resourcing and staffing of each program. The Director ensures programs achieve objectives and manages staff responsible for the day-to-day execution of programs. The role plays a key role in representing RADIUS in local and national social innovation ecosystems, with a focus on active programming areas, and manages relationships with SFU, donors, and other key stakeholders. The role understands and applies a justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) framework to all aspects of their scope of work.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Business, Communications, Public Policy or related discipline and five years of related experience in a relevant management capacity, experience in designing and overseeing social impact metrics and evaluation systems, including developmental evaluation processes, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize equity centred design and other social innovation/systems change frameworks.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and completing systems change initiatives.
  • Excellent knowledge of social innovation and/or social entrepreneurship; i.e., lab practices, human and equity-centred design framework, innovation process design, and systems change.
  • Demonstrated skills in implementing and advancing a Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) framework to operations/HR, program development, recruitment, delivery, and knowledge mobilization. This includes but is not limited to high self-awareness, commitment to learning, experience of how to center lived experiences, and a commitment to learning about the migrant and Indigenous experience in Canada.

What We Offer

At SFU, our goal is to ensure our people are valued and supported by promoting a healthy work-life balance, professional growth and development, as well as a safe and respectful workplace. We offer continuing employees who belong in the Administrative & Professional Staff Association (APSA):
