Senior Tennis Professional

(Programs, Development & Member Experience)

Location: Richmond Country Club – Richmond, BC

Employment Type: Employee position | Hourly | Full-time/ Part-time | Year-round

About Richmond Country Club

Richmond Country Club (RCC) is a premier year-round multi-sport facility with a thriving tennis community. Our Club is committed to delivering an exceptional tennis experience to members of all ages and skill levels.

With a strong junior development program, growing adult participation, and a high-performance player pathway, RCC offers a collaborative and dynamic environment for a tennis professional looking to grow within a progressive club.

We are currently seeking a Senior Tennis Professional who holds a minimum Tennis Canada CP2 Certification to join our tennis team and work closely with the Director of Racquets in the delivery, development, and continued growth of the tennis department.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated tennis professional who wants to take on greater responsibility while remaining highly engaged on court. The successful candidate will play an important role in elevating the member experience, leading programs, supporting our High Performance and U12 pathways, delivering adult programming, and helping organize and execute club events and tournaments.

The position is designed for someone who wants to grow beyond a traditional coaching role and become an important part of the leadership and development of RCC Tennis.

Key Responsibilities

Member Experience & Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with RCC members and create a welcoming, energetic and professional tennis environment
  • Help identify opportunities to increase member participation and engagement
  • Promote tennis programs, leagues, tournaments, events and social opportunities
  • Provide a high level of customer service and professionalism
  • Work with the Director of Racquets to respond to member feedback and develop solutions that improve the tennis experience
  • Help create a strong sense of community within the RCC Tennis Department

Junior Development & High Performance

  • Lead and assist with U12 Junior Development Programs, including Red, Orange and Green Ball programming
  • Support the Green Ball Elite and High-Performance pathways
  • Deliver high-quality junior group programming, private lessons, semi-private lessons and camps
  • Assist with player assessments and provide recommendations regarding appropriate program placement and development pathways
  • Support junior teams, match play, tournaments and competitive opportunities
  • Help establish consistent coaching standards and development expectations throughout the junior pathway
  • Work collaboratively with the coaching team to ensure players receive consistent and progressive development experience

Adult Programming

  • Deliver high-quality adult clinics, private lessons and semi-private lessons
  • Assist with adult leagues, round robins, social tennis and specialty programs
  • Help develop new adult programming based on member interests and demand
  • Encourage member participation and help build a strong social and competitive adult tennis community

Events & Tournaments

  • Assist with the planning and execution of RCC tennis tournaments, social events and special events
  • Take an active leadership role during tournaments and events
  • Assist with draws, court scheduling, logistics, communication and on-court operations
  • Help ensure every event provides members with a professional, organized and enjoyable experience
  • Work with the Director of Racquets to develop and improve the Club's tennis event calendar

Leadership & Program Development

  • Work closely with the Director of Racquets on the day-to-day delivery and development of the tennis department
  • Participate in staff meetings and program development discussions
  • Help maintain consistent coaching standards and expectations across the tennis team
  • Provide support and leadership to other tennis professionals when required
  • Take ownership of specific programs, projects or events
  • Contribute ideas and initiatives that improve programming, member engagement, revenue and the overall tennis experience

Ideal Candidate

  • We are looking for a tennis professional who:
  • Has strong coaching ability and a genuine passion for player development
  • Wants to take the next step in their professional career
  • Is enthusiastic, reliable, organized and team-oriented
  • Is confident leading programs independently
  • Has strong people skills and excellent communication abilities
  • Enjoys working with both juniors and adults
  • Has experience working with competitive junior and/or High Performance players
  • Takes pride in delivering an exceptional member experience
  • Is comfortable taking ownership of programs, events and projects
  • Demonstrates initiative and is willing to take on additional responsibility
  • Wants to contribute ideas and help shape the future of RCC Tennis
  • Is interested in growing into a larger leadership role within the department

Qualifications

  • Minimum Tennis Canada CP2 Certification or international equivalent
  • Active TPA membership preferred
  • 3+ years of coaching experience
  • Strong playing background preferred
  • Minimum 4.5+ playing level
  • Professional Liability Insurance through TPA or equivalent
  • First Aid & CPR Certification
  • Clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Compensation & Growth Opportunity

This is a year-round employee position. The successful candidate will join Richmond Country Club as a staff member and not as an independent contractor. The position will initially be structured around a competitive hourly wage, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and responsibilities.

Additional paid hours will be available for coaching, programming, camps, tournaments, events and other departmental responsibilities based on seasonal demand and performance.

Some of our great benefits

  • Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • Comprehensive Health Benefits Plan, including Life Insurance, AD&D, Extended Health and Dental.
  • On-site free parking.
  • Staff meal plan.
  • Group Registered Retirement Savings Plan contribution, RCC match.
  • Use of the Golf course, Tennis courts, and gym (subject to off-peak hours).
  • Merchandise discount in the Golf Pro shop.
  • Employee Sports events such as Golf, Tennis, and athletic tournaments.
  • Recognition: RCC prides itself on recognizing our employees in creative ways.

As the successful candidate takes on additional leadership and departmental responsibilities, there is an opportunity for the position to progress into a hybrid compensation structure combining hourly compensation with a retainer component.

The goal is to provide a pathway for the successful candidate to grow both professionally and financially as their role and contribution to the tennis department increases.

Why Join RCC?

Since 1958, the RCC's core principle has been that no member would be denied admission because of their race, color, or creed; holding the spirit of inclusion as our core value. The goal for all staff is to provide our members with a family-friendly experience that exceeds expectations while building life-long relationships. In all that we do, we are expected to strive to be the best.

This is an opportunity to join a growing tennis department and work directly with the Director of Racquets in shaping the future of RCC Tennis.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Take on meaningful leadership responsibilities
  • Remain heavily involved in on-court coaching
  • Work with a diverse membership and player base
  • Develop expertise across junior, adult and High-Performance programming
  • Be involved in tournaments, events and program development
  • Build strong relationships within the RCC community
  • Help develop a high-quality, player-focused junior pathway
  • Contribute directly to the continued growth and success of RCC Tennis
  • Grow into a larger leadership role within the department over time

If you are a motivated tennis professional looking to take the next step in your career, while remaining actively involved on court and becoming more involved in the leadership and development of a tennis department, we would love to hear from you.
