Job Summary
Position will conduct laboratory research on metallic and ceramic environmental barrier coatings (EBCs).
Organizational Status
Reports to Dr. Rizhi Wang.
Work Performed
The successful candidate will conduct laboratory research on metallic and ceramic environmental barrier coatings (EBCs) applied to ceramic matrix composites using plasma spray technology. Responsibilities include literature review, experimental design, processing of EBCs, mechanical and thermal testing, and metallurgical and microstructural characterization using optical and electron microscopy techniques. The position also involves regular interaction with industrial collaborators, as well as written and verbal project reporting.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
Errors would result in bad data and design issues.
Supervision Received
Supervised by Dr. Wang, routine assignments are not generally checked while complex assignments are subject to check and supervision.
Supervision Given
May demonstrate and show the operating sequences of equipment and instrumentation to users.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a technical college or institute and a minimum two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, preferably from a Canadian university.
At least two years of research experience in ceramic coatings, plasma spray processes, or ceramic composite materials.
