About Us
The Canadian Press is Canada’s trusted news source and leader in providing real-time, bilingual multimedia stories across print, broadcast and digital platforms. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual with a strong mix of interpersonal, strategic and technical skills to assist with client service, rights management, and asset access while also contributing to a significant digitization project focused on captioning, tagging, and uploading photos to our images archive platform.
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual with a solid understanding of photo digitization and a passion for building relationships to join our Sales & Marketing team. In this role, you will contribute to the digitization of CP’s historic collection of photographic negatives by processing raw files to JPEGs, editing images for appearance, and adding captions and IPTC-compliant metadata and tags before uploading them to the image platform.
In addition, you will be the first point of contact for French language clients seeking to license images from the historical and current photo collections, our text and video footage. You will guide customers through the licensing process, provide exceptional service, and help drive revenue through upselling opportunities and inbound sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Photo Library Digitization Assistant with processing raw files to JPEGS
- Input IPTC-standard metadata and tags to JPEG files, including updating caption information as required to current CP Style.
- Develop expertise in AI-powered platforms that streamline photo uploads to the online archive, enabling increased photo volume available to clients to enhance selection and increase overall purchases
- Serve as the primary contact for inbound licensing inquiries via email, phone, and online platforms from our French clients.
- Guide clients through the licensing process, including content discovery, pricing, contract terms, and usage rights.
- Develop and manage relationships with a growing clientele in the French market and proactively promote our licenced material (photos, text and footage) to potential and existing clients.
