As the province’s largest energy provider with more than 100 years of knowledge and experience, we proudly deliver renewable energy, natural gas, electricity and propane to 1.3 million customers.

We're actively seeking new talent to join our mission of delivering a stronger energy future in B.C. As one of BC's Top Employers with a diverse team of over 2,800 employees, we are committed to a safe and inclusive culture where each of us can connect, belong, and grow. Join us, and together, let's shape a brighter future for B.C.

Position Overview

You’re a construction leader with hands on experience under your belt, but your knowledge of natural gas infrastructure is second to none. Safety for yourself and your peers is always your top priority, and all of your operations decisions are focused on safeguarding the well-being of everyone around you. If this sounds like you, you’ll be a great fit as our Operations Supervisor.

As an Operations Supervisor, you’ll oversee our Metro and Greater Vancouver region and you will play a key role in overseeing a strong team of skilled resources to meet daily demands related to system operations, capital construction projects and programs, service and main installation, repair and maintenance, and emergency response procedures. Above all, you will maintain the safety of your team and the integrity of assets and equipment in your area.

We pride ourselves on serving energy to our customers sustainably, safely and reliably. With the skills and values you bring to the table, we want you to join us in rethinking our energy future.

In year 1, you will:

  • Lead a team of unionized employees to meet the daily requirements, commitments, and projects as required.
  • Familiarize yourself with the software and applications used to schedule and complete deliverables on time and within budget
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels in collaboration with internal resources.
  • Manage contracted services in accordance with established terms and conditions.
  • Participate, interview and select new employees to the team through an inclusive recruitment process.
  • Coach, mentor and support your team to support performance, quality of work, and ongoing training and development of staff.
  • Utilize your field experience and technical knowledge to solve work related problems and/or collaborate and refer to others.
  • Travel to work sites to provide quality oversight and maintain compliance with work and industry standards, applicable metrics, and service level agreements.
  • Maintain an inclusive, safe and healthy workplace for your team and others.
  • Maintain a safe work work environment by following procedures and practices including:
    • Site Safe Work Planning
    • Provide safety information and supplies, including the use of personal protective equipment
    • Participate in incident investigations
  • Utilize your financial knowledge and provide oversight of the management of budgets, third party contracts and internal service agreements.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, contractors, builders, municipal agencies, emergency response and environmental management personnel.
  • Champion our safety culture to safeguard against accidents and injuries.
  • Partner with peers and internal stakeholders in developing strategic initiatives to drive operational excellence.

What it takes:

  • Five years of management experience with a focus on natural gas infrastructure.
  • Post secondary diploma considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in construction, underground utilities, and emergency response is an asset.
  • A passion for developing quality solutions with a safety-focused mindset.
  • A collaborative and inclusive approach to strengthening connections in the workplace.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite such as Word, Excel, etc.

Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive, and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life-long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.
