Heavy Duty Mechanic – Mobile Service – $53.42 / hour – Alberta & Northwest Territories (Travel-Based)

Are you a ticketed Heavy Equipment Technician who thrives in the field and enjoys troubleshooting complex issues on Caterpillar and other industrial equipment?

If so, we want to hear from you! Our client is a premier equipment solutions provider supporting heavy industry across Western Canada. With a focus on mobile service excellence and career development, they are looking to grow their high-performing team of Heavy Duty Mechanics.

Job Type : Full-Time, Permanent

Environment : Unionized

Location : Alberta-based (Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer, Grande Prairie preferred)

Travel : Extensive travel across Alberta and the Northwest Territories

Schedule : 7 days on / 7 days off – continuous shift

Compensation : $53.42 / hour

Overtime : Paid OT and double time based on customer / site requirements

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing :

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair Caterpillar and other mechanical equipment in the field
  • Use Caterpillar’s SIS and ET systems daily
  • Complete accurate service documentation (work orders, warranty reports, crossover notes)
  • Collaborate with Service Supervisors, Lead Hands, and the larger technical team
  • Maintain strong communication with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Follow all safety protocols while working independently in remote environments
  • Qualifications

    What you'll bring :

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (Red Seal)
  • Dual ticket (HET / Truck & Transport or Millwright) considered an asset
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Experience with Caterpillar equipment and SIS / ET systems is an asset
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and safety-first mindset
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working in remote and changing environments
