Mechanical/Electrical Installer, Robotics & Automation

Location: Hamilton

Job Responsibilities

  • To participate in the installation of entirely new or re-located equipment
  • To assemble and build equipment in local facility to be shipped to customer sites
  • Assists in commissioning and testing new equipment while making sure all installations are well-documented, working properly, and operating safely.
  • Performs all tasks under limited supervision
  • Leads and organizes project and repair work
  • Assumes high-level ownership related to work prioritization, production needs, and safety requirements.
  • Troubleshoot, inspect, adjust, and repair automated machines and robotic systems to ensure they are working properly and safely
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical).
  • Evaluates and recommends equipment improvements to improve availability, capability and yield.
  • Examine mechanical/electrical equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Perform bench work in repairing and maintaining production equipment and spare part assemblies.
  • Perform onsite mechanical installation on automation projects sold within North America and overseas.
  • Fabricate and rework parts required for the projects and prototyping.
  • Work with Engineering, Production Team Leads, Production Manager, Group Leaders
  • Effectively participate in the company Global Performance Management Program.
  • Ensure the correct use and maintenance of tools, equipment and supplies.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanical/Electrical Installer with Automation background
  • ABB robots experience an asset
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience required
  • Must hold a valid passport and be able to travel to USA and internationally
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have a good knowledge of mechanical troubleshooting including hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Must have an advanced level of knowledge and experience reading mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
  • Must possess an advanced mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to use laser levelling equipment
  • Ability to fabricate, weld, or machine parts will be required.
  • Excellent attendance required.
  • Must possess good organizational and communication skills.
  • Must be able to use cranes, lifting straps, rigs, forklifts etc., to safely position and fasten equipment
  • Experience using PLC’s is an asset
  • Able to use both hand and power tools
  • Work independently and in team environments in achieving tasks
  • Travel would be a combined, not necessarily all at once (26-30 weeks of the year)
