Job description
Are you a skilled mechanical builder looking to grow your trade with a industry leader? We are hiring a Mechanical Assembler to build, fit, and integrate custom plastics converting and extrusion machinery from the ground up on a straight day shift in Brampton, ON. Working directly with supportive team leads, you will manage custom 3-to-6-week machine builds—including slitters, winders, and die assemblies—translating complex blueprints into high-precision machinery.

This role offers long-term stability, steady daily overtime, structured onboarding, and active mentorship—including official sponsorship and hour sign-offs for candidates pursuing their 433A Millwright license.

Randstad is dynamic, inclusive, and committed to building a diverse workforce. As an equal opportunity employer, we welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and foster a workplace free of discrimination. We are also committed to providing accommodations during the recruitment process—please let us know if you require any arrangements.

At Randstad, we specialize in connecting top talent with rewarding career opportunities across engineering, skilled trades, and industrial manufacturing. Our dedicated recruitment team works closely with candidates to understand their unique skills and match them with industry-leading employers.

Advantages
• Competitive Pay: $28–$32./hr start rate, negotiable for top experience or active 433A pursuit.
• Career Growth: Client actively sponsors and signs off on 433A Millwright apprenticeship hours.
• Great Schedule: Straight Day Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM) with regular 1.5x overtime (~1 hr/day).
• Full Benefits: Comprehensive Health, Dental, STD, LTD, Life Insurance, and AD&D after 3 months.
• Financial Support: 3% employer RRSP match after 3 months; $120/yr boot allowance; $300/2yr safety glasses allowance.

Responsibilities
• Assemble, fit, and integrate custom converting and web handling machinery using mechanical blueprints and schematics.
• Align and set up critical drive components, including frames, rollers, shafts, bearings, gearboxes, and web guide systems.
• Level post-assembly rollers, verify bearing fits, and set precise belt, pulley, and drive tensioning.
• Assemble, route, and fit basic hydraulic and pneumatic lines, valves, and cylinders, performing initial troubleshooting.
• Inspect components using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, torque wrenches) to maintain exact tolerances.
• Identify schematic errors or design defects and collaborate with engineering to resolve them.
• Safely operate overhead cranes for heavy component positioning and execute benchtop modifications/fit-ups as needed.

Qualifications
• Technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Technology OR equivalent hands-on machinery assembly experience.
• 3+ years of experience assembling custom industrial machinery or equipment.
• 1+ years of practical experience with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers).
• Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work comfortably on a manufacturing shop floor.
• Converting, web handling, or extrusion machinery experience is a major asset.
• Active pursuit of a 433A Millwright license or overhead crane experience is a plus.
• High proficiency reading mechanical assembly drawings, schematics, and digital work instructions.
• Precise tool operation (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, torque wrenches).
• Knowledge of mechanical power transmission, drive alignments, gearboxes, and precision fitments.
• Hands-on assembly knowledge of basic hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Sharp troubleshooting skills to catch design discrepancies early.
