Electrical Engineer Trainee At TWD we believe that people are our greatest asset. As part of the engineering team, the Electrical Engineer Trainee assists with all aspects of electrical design for assigned projects and will provide support in the areas of planning, executing, and delivering projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with specifications. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as an Electrical Engineer Trainee . The ideal candidate will be comfortable with minimal supervision and be results driven. This role will be based out of office in Burlington, ON . What You’ll Be Doing : Perform electrical design and calculations in accordance with the relevant Canadian and Industrial (API, IEEE, NEC) Standards and project specifications for streetlighting and transportation electrical systems Direct the preparation of and / or prepare detailed designs for electrical systems using MicroStation and AutoCAD Conduct engineering field reviews for preliminary investigation and to ensure constructability of design Prepare, review and mark for changes detailed site layout, structural or electrical drawings such as : Schematics, Profiles, Single line diagrams, Circuit plans Prepare and review specifications, technical bid evaluations, procurement documentation and construction cost estimates Assist with the generation of additional engineering products that may include reports, technical memoranda, illumination studies, specifications, and other supporting documents Assist other engineers, technologists, designers and drafters in carrying out technical tasks Review and perform quality control checks for drawings and deliverables Perform Project Manager functions on projects of varying sizes including budgets, schedules, design reports and peer review Interact with customers and other team members regarding project requirements and progress update Support the Business Development Team to effectively manage and expand existing customer relationships, grow and develop a new customer base, prepare technical proposals and attend conferences for the purpose of networking and promoting the company What You’ll Need : Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Familiarity with the design of transportation related electrical systems including street lighting and traffic signals is required Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principals Intermediate skills with drafting tools such as AutoCAD and / or MicroStation Able to conduct detailed calculations to ensure that designs meet engineered standards and applicable codes Experience with multiple phases of projects including preliminary and detailed design, tendering, construction supervision and commissioning is an asset Excellent communication skills both oral and written Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a range of personalities to establish effective working relationships with the required stakeholders We embrace diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for everyone.
